Job DescriptionDescription: Sports Director Full-Time, Exempt Position Job Summary: We are currently searching for a cause driven leader to fill our Sports Director role. For more than 60 years, the Arlington-Mansfield Area YMCA has served the community of Greater Arlington, Mansfield, and Kennedale communities. We believe a healthy community is a strong one. This position will lead and mentor our sports staff, coaches, and volunteers, This position will oversee the development and operations of our sports programs; these programs are for all youth and encourage confidence, good sportsmanship, and teamwork in our youth participants. Under the direction of the Associate Executive Director at the Central YMCA, the Sports Director is responsible for the administration and management of our association's year-round youth sports, sports specialty camps, and future adult sports programs. He or she will provide the community with sound programs in accordance with the YMCA goals and objectives. This person must have the ability to work a flexible schedule, with evenings or weekends as needed. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Program Management: Oversee the youth sports programs, including budget management, facility coordination, and equipment logistics. Monitor program participation and evaluate effectiveness., • Program Expansion: Lead the development of new programs, ensure current offerings meet community needs, and assist with marketing and promotional efforts., • Compliance & Safety: Ensure all programs comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including ADA standards. Maintain adherence to YMCA program standards and safety protocols., • Staff & Volunteer Management: Recruit, hire, and onboard a diverse team of staff and volunteers. Develop staff schedules, evaluate performance, and provide ongoing training., • Team Organization: Coordinate team creation, schedules, officials, and coaches. Oversee distribution of uniforms, awards, and event logistics, including team photos, parties, and clinics., • Community Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with staff, parents, caregivers, and community organizations. Foster clear and consistent communication., • Community Involvement: Participate in Y events, committees, fundraising efforts, and other community activities., • Core Values: Uphold YMCA values-caring, honesty, respect, responsibility, and faith-and ensure adherence to YMCA policies and procedures., • Collaboration, • Program/Project ManagementRequirements: QUALIFICATIONS: • Minimum age of 21., • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience (supervisor or coordinator of sports/school-age programs)., • YMCA Team Leader certification preferred., • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community., • Commitment to inclusion and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)., • Completion of program-specific training., • Capacity to work cooperatively in a team environment., • Superb verbal and written communication, strong background in program administration, planning, organizing and training., • Excellent skills in dealing with high stress and crisis management situations appropriately., • Basic knowledge of computers and ability to become proficient in AMA YMCA software., • Ability to perform essential duties indoors and outdoors, with the agility to move around different locations as needed., • Frequently required to sit, reach, and use a computer and phone for extended periods., • Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds., • Moderate noise level in the work environment., • Reasonable accommodation will be made for individuals with disabilities.
