Job Description: Grip is hiring an Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) & Compliance Manager to own workplace safety and food safety compliance across our cold-chain fulfillment network This is a single-owner role, where one operator should hold the full picture from OSHA recordkeeping to FSMA traceability. You will design, implement, and continuously improve the programs that keep our associates safe and our facilities audit-ready: OSHA compliance, dry ice and DOT hazmat handling, FDA FSMA and HACCP food safety, client and regulatory audits, and workers' compensation and risk management. The role requires fluency in multi-state regulatory complexity. Specific responsibilities: Workplace Safety Programs: • Own and administer the OSHA 300, 300A, and 301 logs across all facilities; ensure timely posting, recordkeeping, and electronic submission., • Lead incident investigations, root-cause analysis, and corrective action plans for injuries, near-misses, and property damage events., • Manage PPE programs, lockout/tagout (LOTO), powered industrial truck (forklift) certification and refresher training, and emergency action plans., • Conduct routine site safety inspections and behavior-based safety observations; track findings to closure. Training, Onboarding and Record-keeping: • Build and maintain new-hire safety orientation curriculum and annual refresher modules for all warehouse roles., • Administer the learning management system (LMS); assign, track, and audit completion of required training across six sites., • Maintain compliance record-keeping (training rosters, certifications, equipment inspection logs, SDS files) in audit-ready condition. Cold Chain and Dry Ice / Hazmat Compliance • Own DOT 49 CFR and IATA Packing Instruction 954 compliance for dry ice shipments, including shipper training, package marking, and shipping paper requirements., • Manage CO2 exposure controls in freezer and dry ice handling areas: monitoring, alarms, ventilation engineering reviews, and exposure assessments., • Maintain cryogenic PPE programs (face shields, insulated gloves, aprons) and SDS libraries for refrigerants, sanitizers, and packaging chemicals. Food safety and FSMA Compliance: • Serve as the company's Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) under FDA FSMA; develop and maintain Food Safety Plans for each facility., • Manage HACCP programs, sanitation SOPs, allergen controls, pest control vendors, and environmental monitoring., • Lead SQF and BRCGS readiness and certification efforts at facilities where client or regulatory requirements dictate., • Run mock recall and traceability exercises; ensure lot-level traceability integrates with Grip's Pulse OMS. Regulatory and Audit Management • Serve as a primary liaison with OSHA (Federal and state-plan), EPA, FDA, and state health departments across NJ, TX, FL, NV, MI, and PA., • Maintain a multi-state compliance calendar covering inspections, permit renewals, reporting deadlines, and state-plan-specific obligations., • Lead client audits and customer food safety questionnaires; own corrective and preventive action (CAPA) responses end-to-end., • Track and respond to regulatory changes affecting cold storage, food handling, and warehouse operations. Insurance and Risk Management • Coordinate workers' compensation claims with carriers and site managers; drive return-to-work programs and claim closure., • Manage OSHA recordable rates (TRIR, DART) and Experience Modification Rate (EMR); set targets and report performance to leadership., • Conduct facility risk assessments and loss prevention reviews; partner with property and casualty brokers on policy renewals and underwriting submissions. What You Bring: • 5–8 years of EHS, safety, or compliance experience in warehouse, 3PL, distribution, or food manufacturing environments., • OSHA 30-Hour General Industry certification., • Working knowledge of DOT 49 CFR and IATA dry ice / hazmat shipping standards., • Demonstrated experience managing OSHA recordkeeping, incident investigations, and workers' compensation claims., • Multi-state compliance experience, including familiarity with state-plan OSHA programs., • Strong written communication for SOPs, audit responses, and CAPA documentation., • Willingness to travel to facilities.
