JOB POSTINGS About the Role – Lead Fiber Optic Technician ACG is seeking an experienced Lead Fiber Optic Technician to lead field crews and oversee fiber optic installation, splicing, testing, andtroubleshooting activities across OSP and ISP environments. This role is responsible for ensuring work quality, safety compliance, and adherence to industry standards while coordinating daily field operations. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership skills, extensive hands‐on fiber experience, and the ability to guide technicians while maintaining high standards of workmanship and documentation. Schedule & Reporting • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. (flexibility required based on project needsReports To: Management Team • Strong safety culture and quality standards, • Clear communication and daily follow‐through, • Accountability for workmanship and documentation, • Leadership by example in the field, • Respect for procedures, tools, and teammates Compensation & Benefits • Pay Rate: $22.00 – $26.00 per hour (based on experience), • Paid Time Off (PTO): Accrued every pay period; increases with tenure, • Paid Holidays: 7 full paid holidays annually, • Half‐Day Holidays (Salaried): Christmas Eve & New Year’s Eve, • 401(k) Retirement Plan: 3.5% employer match, • Profit Sharing (Salaried): Based on company performance and KPIs, • Health, Dental & Vision Insurance: Available to eligible employees What You Will Do Field Installation, Splicing & Technical Execution • Install, splice, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic networks (OSP & ISP), • Perform fusion splicing on various fiber types and configurations, • Install conduit, cable protection, patch panels, outlets, and communication lines, • Assemble and install communication systems, wiring frames, and power components, • Troubleshoot minor issues and escalate major technical problems as needed Fiber Testing, Diagnostics & Certification • Test and certify fiber networks using OTDRs, power meters, and light sources, • Interpret OTDR traces to identify faults, splice loss, or degradation, • Inspect, calibrate, and maintain testing equipment, • Ensure accuracy and reliability of all test results Safety, Quality Assurance & Compliance • Enforce on‐site safety regulations and company procedures, • Ensure compliance with NEC requirements and fiber installation standards, • Maintain quality‐assurance protocols for all fiber work, • Ensure documentation standards are followed consistently Team Leadership & Field Management • Lead, coach, and support fiber technicians and field crews, • Coordinate daily work assignments and crew activities, • Ensure technicians have tools, materials, and support, • Communicate progress, issues, and needs to management and clients Performance Expectations First 30 Days • Learn and apply ACG safety policies and fiber standards, • Perform splicing, testing, and troubleshooting accurately, • Demonstrate proficiency with OTDR interpretation and drawings, • Establish consistent daily reporting and communication, • Support technicians in completing work orders and maintaining organized sites Ongoing Deliverables • Daily completion of splicing logs, testing documentation, and field notes, • Weekly equipment checks, calibration verification, and safety compliance, • Weekly communication with leadership on field performance and needs, • Monthly review of quality, testing accuracy, safety, and team performance, • Monthly improvement proposals for fiber workflows or field efficiency Required Experience & Qualifications • Extensive experience in fiber optic installation, fusion splicing, testing, and troubleshooting, • Strong leadership and team‐management skills, • Ability to read and interpret OTDR traces, diagrams, and fiber drawings, • Proficiency with fiber testing tools and precision equipment, • Strong communication and customer‐service skills, • Ability to work outdoors in physically demanding environments Preferred Certifications: FOA Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT) • OSHA 30, • BICSI Certification, • CommScope SYSTIMAX Installation & Maintenance Work Expectations • Ask questions immediately when instructions or data are unclear—no assumptions, • Ability to work outdoors and in physically demanding conditions, • Prioritize tasks in fast‐moving field environments, • Flexible hours may be required based on workload and customer needs, • Maintain professionalism and high‐quality workmanship at all times Core Values • Accountability – Own results and communicate honestly, • Character – Professional conduct and reliability, • Integrity – Ethical behavior and accurate reporting, • Safety – Commitment to safe work practices, • Teamwork – Supports and leads field teams, • Trustworthiness – Consistent follow‐through and transparency Work Environment • Field‐based role with outdoor work and job‐site coordination, • Travel to job sites and extended field time required Additional Notice This position is performance‐based.
