Job Description A premier private practice neurosurgery group in the Houston area is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant (PA). The practice is well established and does 100% elective cases. This position will function as an advanced practice practitioner, responsible for maintaining and promoting the health of the patient requiring care, practicing medicine under the supervision of a licensed physician. The PA will work in multiple settings including inpatient, outpatient, operating room and clinic. No ER or trauma call and light weekend call once every six weeks. Responsibilities: • Provide diagnostic, therapeutic, surgical and post operative care, under the supervision of a physician, • Provide support to the supervising physician in the operating room as a surgical assistant as a first assist, • Demonstrate leadership as a clinical resource, • Participate in rounding independently or with surgeon, • Coordinate and manage patient care as assigned by supervising physician, • Respond timely to patient questions/issues that arise as triaged by clinical staff, • Perform delegated tasks as assigned by the supervising physician, • Accurately document all patient encounters and communication in the electronic health record Qualifications: • PA experience is a plus but not required, new graduates welcome to apply., • Experience in a surgical specialty preferred but not required (i.e. Neurosurgery, Spine, Orthopedics, General Surgery), • Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in English, • Bilingual - Spanish a plus, • Ability to exercise judgement in interactions with physicians, care team, patients, and families, • Demonstrate proficient time management skills Education/Licensing Requirements: • Master's Degree in Physician Assistant Studies, • Graduate from Accredited Physician Assistant Program by NCCPA, • NCCPA Certification, • BLS/ALS Certification, • Licensed and credentialed by the Texas Board of Physician Assistants, • Prescriptive authority privileges through the State of Texas, • Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration Benefits: • Competitive Salary & Bonus Structure, • Healthcare benefits including Medical, Dental, and Vision, • Life Insurance, • 401K w/ 3% Safe Harbor, • Paid Time Off, • Paid Holidays, • Paid Parking, • Paid Malpractice, • Stipend for CMEs
