It is an acknowledgment that safe and thriving neighborhoods require resident leadership, community and government support, and resources to produce sustainable change. To that end, NeighborhoodStat employs a series of local meetings that engage residents and MAP partners in sharing, analyzing, and using data to identify public safety priorities and the implementation of solutions. NSI is seeking a MAP Engagement Coordinator for Morris Houses to support a resident-driven, community organizing initiative in partnership with the Mayor’s Action Plan (MAP) for Neighborhood Safety. Underway since 2015, MAP is a comprehensive strategy to enhance public safety and strengthen community well-being in 15 public housing developments across New York City. The initiative aims to enhance safety and overall quality of life by strengthening collaboration and capacity among public housing residents. Since 2016, citywide meetings have been convened to share information and data, facilitate community engagement to identify neighborhood priorities, enhance the quality of life and spur collaboration and accountability among city agencies and local stakeholders. The MAP Engagement Coordinator will support residents, community partners, and local city agency representatives through the process of identifying and solving issues that create vulnerabilities in community safety and well-being. Reporting to the Associate Director of Neighborhood Equity, the MAP Engagement Coordinator will lead the planning and implementation of NeighborhoodStat at their designated site. AAFSCNY staff at the FJC provides crisis intervention, case management services, advocacy, information and referrals, and practical assistance to survivors, providing client-centered safety assessments and risk management plans. Clients will be greeted by the Front-Line Advocates at the Reception Desk in the Hospitality Suite. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: • Counsels residents regarding plans for meeting service needs, and aids the recipients to mobilize inner capabilities and environmental resources to attain life goals including goals of goals of housing., • Educates residents about self-help techniques and self-help group processes, • Teaches residents effective coping strategies based on personal experience, • Teaches symptom management skills, • Assists in clarifying rehabilitation and recovery goals., • Assists in maintaining up-to-date, accurate individual case records on each resident., • Assists in obtaining and developing resource information for residents in all aspects of their care; disseminates this information to recipients in a manner that is clear and understandable., • Assist the resident in meeting service plan goals., • Helps facilitate individualized services to the resident that meet the diverse needs of the recipient and focus on the discharge-planning goal of housing., • Explains the types of clinical services, and ICL programs available to recipients; helps instruct the recipient in daily living skills, socialization skill enhancement, conflict resolution and most importantly, housing readiness., • Performs crisis assessment and nonverbal and verbal crisis intervention., • Assists in referring residents to community resources and other organizations. Accompanies recipients on regularly scheduled or emergency visits to medical treatment facilities, social agencies, government offices, or other locations associated with the treatment or assistance of the resident., • Advocates on behalf of recipient with outside service providers and within ICL., • Assists resident in finding and getting into vocational training or other training opportunities, and works with other team members in addressing the needs of residents., • Immediately reports serious incidents, serious incident allegations, incidents or sensitive situations to supervisors. Completes incident reports in accordance with ICL policy. Accounts for residents and files missing person reports on recipients not accounted for in accordance with ICL policy and procedure., • Complies with attendance and timekeeping rules and reports reliably and regularly to work on an on-going basis., • Attends regularly scheduled clinical meetings, staff meetings and supervision as well as in-service training and development activities., • Complies with agency infection control policies., • Ability to work with residents, families, and staff in a caring and respectful manner, and with due understanding of and consideration for cultural differences., • Ability to serve as a role model to residents., • Ability to complete written forms and reports in an accurate and timely manner., • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, residents, families, and the public., • Ability to prepare accurate and timely documentation, reports and other written material as assigned., • Ability to secure the cooperation of and work effectively with others, • Ability to work independently, and to conform to all applicable safety and accountability measures, • Knowledge of how disabilities can adversely affect functioning and ways to cope with or overcome such effects, • Ability to read and write at least at a 12th grade level and to follow written and oral instructions, • Ability to accompany or transport residents (some assignments may require possession of a valid driver's license)., • Completion of an internship or comparable training in peer advocacy preferred; experience in providing advocacy services to people who are mentally ill and/or homeless., • Past or current recipient of mental health, substance services or homeless services preferred.

The Opportunity: Build Up Justice NYC is looking for its next Chief Financial Officer who will be responsible for developing, managing and evaluating all financial operations to advance the mission of Build Up Justice NYC. As a member of the senior leadership team, the CFO is responsible for managing a $25+M budget with a diverse public and private funding base. They will partner with the Executive Director to strategically manage financial risks in all aspects of governance, policy work and operations, and provide financial expertise in the development and management of the organization. The CFO must be a proven leader, financial and strategic business partner with the ability to manage and develop a finance team. They will have demonstrated ability to recommend and implement financial policies, oversee and manage all budgets, accounts, payroll, accounting, grants management and other financial matters. This position will supervise the finance team. The Chief Financial Officer will: • Develop and implement cash management policies with special emphasis on the working capital fund and a reserve fund;, • Develop accounting reporting policies relative to the fundraising activities and initiatives;, • Oversee preparation of and submission of all grant and government contract project budgets, financial grant reports, and reimbursement requests;, • Review all receipts and disbursements, ascertain correct account distribution and ensure all support documentation is accurate and in order;, • Coordinate the preparation of the organizational budget for annual and strategic planning processes and for contracts and reporting;, • Monitor and analyze actual financial performance with specific emphasis on cash flow, project expenses and restricted funds;, • Develop, negotiate and maintain business and financial relationships with banks, funders and auditors;, • Ensure state charitable solicitation filings, state sales tax and/or sales tax-exempt filings, Better Business Bureau and National Charities Information Bureau filings, IRS information returns, and IRS unrelated business income tax returns, real property tax exemption renewal filings, and storefront registration filings are completed and filed in a timely and accurate basis; and, • Make recommendations to the Finance Committee and/or Board of Directors to improve the overall health of the organization. To be successful in this role, you must have a minimum of BS in Accounting, Business or related field; CPA preferred; and a minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience, non-profit experience a plus.
