Job Description Job Summary We are seeking skilled, safety-minded Piledrivers (Pilebucks) to join our marine construction operations in Northern California. You will prepare, drive, cut, and splice various types of piles (steel, concrete, timber) from land-based and floating platforms (barges). The ideal candidate demonstrates strong rigging and structural welding capabilities while adhering to stringent marine safety protocols. Job Responsibilities • Install piles of all sizes & dimensions on or near the water, • Utilize power hammers to raise and lower drop hammers that drive piles to required depths. Move hand and foot levers of hoisting equipment to position piling leads, hoist piling into leads, and position hammers over pilings., • Carry, load, unload, stack, and move materials. Hook and rig material and equipment for safe movement by crane., • Measure and mark piles with tape. Use a burning torch to cut steel piles, a concrete saw to cut concrete piles, and a chainsaw to cut timber piles., • Read and understand blueprint plans and pile layout, • Use tools to dig, pry, hammer, and shovel. Assist in general pile driving operations and other duties as assigned., • Give accurate crane signals to the operator to ensure the safe and efficient movement of material., • Examine and inspect field conditions. Proactively identify problems and inaccuracies that arise, and take corrective actions as needed., • Don all required personal protection equipment (PPE) at all times, including but not limited to: hard hat, PFD (Personal Flotation Device), safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves, and leather work boots., • Read, understand, and comply with all employer’s policies and applicable federal, state, and industry regulations. Qualifications Education • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) Required Qualifications • Must be 18 years of age, • All employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States, • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check, • Must be able to pass a pre-employment DOT drug screen, • Must be able to pass a DOT physical, • Carry a valid Driver’s License and valid car insurance, • Must be in a Union or be able to join the Union Experience • 4+ years of Pilebuck experience, • Experience in the Marine Construction Industry, • Experienced welder Required Certifications & Credentials • Active TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) card or able to obtain one before hire., • OSHA 10-hour Construction Safety Card (OSHA 30 preferred), • Rigging/Signaling Certificate, • Welding Certs, • Valid First Aid/CPR/AED certification (preferred), • 24-hour HAZWOPER (40-hour HAZWOPER preferred) Background Requirements • Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance, • Ability to provide a three-year driving record, • Must pass pre-employment drug screening and background check Physical Requirements • Must be able to withstand daily physical labor in all weather conditions (Sun, Rain, Sleet, and Snow) and varying temperature extremes., • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, push-pull movements, squatting, crouching, bending, stooping, crawling, and kneeling., • Climb embankments, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds. Ability to climb and maintain flawless balance on steel framework, barge decks, and uneven or cluttered areas., • Must be able to use fingers, hands, arms, legs, and feet in precise, coordinated movements to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls, and tools., • Ability to move efficiently in and around confined, cluttered places, and uneven work surfaces. Repetitive reaching and repetitive hand use are required., • Ability to lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds regularly throughout the shift. Union Representation Statement: This hourly position is governed by the Northern California Local 34 Pile Drivers, Divers, Carpenters, Bridge, Wharf, and Dock Builders Union Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
