Job Description Job Title: Floor Technician Job Description The Floor Technician is responsible for maintaining clean, safe, and polished floors throughout a large hospital facility. This role focuses on floor maintenance and restoration, including the operation of industrial floor care equipment, while delivering attentive, one-on-one customer service in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Responsibilities • Perform a full range of floor care tasks, including sweeping, scrubbing, mopping, stripping, refinishing, burnishing, buffing, waxing, and polishing floors., • Clean and maintain carpets, rugs, draperies, and upholstery by vacuuming and shampooing as needed., • Operate industrial floor care equipment and other cleaning machinery safely and effectively., • Maintain and restore all floor types to a clean, polished, and professional appearance., • Dust and polish furniture, fixtures, and fittings to maintain a neat and orderly environment., • Clean metal fixtures and fittings to ensure they remain free of smudges, stains, and buildup., • Empty and clean trash containers and dispose of waste in a sanitary and compliant manner., • Clean wash basins, mirrors, tubs, glass surfaces, and other restroom and washroom fixtures., • Make up beds and change linens as required to support overall room cleanliness and readiness., • Realign furniture and amenities according to prescribed layouts after cleaning is completed., • Perform spot-checking and detailed cleaning to ensure high standards of appearance in all areas., • Respond promptly and courteously to guest and patient queries and requests related to housekeeping., • Respond to calls for housekeeping issues such as spills, broken glass, and other immediate clean-up needs., • Follow all safety procedures and protocols when handling equipment, chemicals, and cleaning agents., • Wear required personal protective equipment when handling chemicals or other hazardous substances., • Contribute to team efforts by collaborating with fellow associates and demonstrating professionalism with customers, patients, and colleagues., • Maintain a hazard-free environment for yourself, patients, visitors, and staff at all times., • High school diploma or GED preferred., • 1–3 years of related experience in floor care or janitorial services., • Hands-on experience with floor care equipment and techniques, including buffing, waxing, stripping, and burnishing., • Ability to follow safety protocols and simple written and verbal instructions consistently., • Strong attention to detail to ensure thorough cleaning and a polished appearance of all floor surfaces., • Good customer service skills and the ability to interact professionally with patients, visitors, and staff in a hospital environment., • Ability to walk long distances throughout a large hospital facility during a shift., • Physical ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as needed while performing cleaning tasks., • Ability to occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds., • Experience in cleaning, janitorial work, or environmental services (EVS) within healthcare or similar facilities., • Experience in food service or support services in a hospital setting is a plus., • Ability to provide one-on-one, attentive customer service while performing cleaning tasks., • Flexibility to work varying schedules, including at least 2 weekend days per month as part of a rotating schedule., • Willingness to take on other housekeeping duties such as bed-making, linen changes, and furniture realignment., • Ability to remain professional and courteous when responding to urgent housekeeping calls such as spills or broken glass. Work Environment This role is based in a large hospital setting, where you will clean and maintain floors in hallways, patient rooms, the cafeteria, and other clinical and public areas. You will frequently walk long distances throughout the facility as you move from one area to another. While performing your duties, you may be frequently exposed to wet and humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and very loud noise levels. You may occasionally encounter fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, extreme cold or heat, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The position requires the consistent use of personal protective equipment, including goggles or eyewear, gloves, and aprons when handling chemicals or other hazardous substances or assisting with first aid. The schedule requires working 2 weekend days per month, with a rotating pattern of weekdays and weekends off over a two-week period, and offers flexibility for associates who prefer part-time work. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wichita, KS. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $20.00/hr.
