Job Description Traveling carpet installer. Carpet Installer – Events & Venues (Traveling, W‐2) Job Summary Full‐time W‐2 role installing temporary and semi‐permanent carpet and event flooring for large‐scale events in convention centers, arenas, and other venues, with frequent travel and fast‐paced turnarounds. The Carpet Installer is responsible for safe, high‐quality installations and removals while representing the company professionally on site. Key Responsibilities • Travel with installation crews to out‐of‐town event projects (trade shows, conventions, sporting events, concerts, and other large events) for multi‐day and short‐notice assignments; company arranges and pays travel and lodging., • Review layouts, color‐coded floor plans, and event specifications with the project manager or crew lead to understand booth grids, aisles, stages, VIP zones, and sponsor areas., • Measure and mark out booth lines and traffic aisles, then cut and fit rolls and tiles of event carpet to match floor plans while minimizing waste and maintaining a clean appearance., • Install carpet over concrete or existing surfaces using approved temporary methods (tape, adhesive, or other systems) to create safe, smooth walking surfaces and reduce trip hazards., • Perform fast tear‐out and turnovers, including removal of carpet, tape, and debris, while protecting venue finishes and returning the space to venue standards., • Safely move, stage, and load/unload carpet rolls, pallets, and materials using carts, dollies, and other equipment in busy dock and back‐of‐house areas., • Work long shifts, often nights, early mornings, and weekends, to meet tight move‐in and move‐out windows based on event schedules., • Follow company and venue safety rules at all times, including use of PPE, proper material handling, and keeping aisles, exits, and fire lanes clear., • Maintain a clean, organized work area and assist with end‐of‐job clean‐up so spaces are show‐ready or turned back to the venue in acceptable condition., • Communicate clearly with crew leads, project managers, event managers, and venue staff about progress, issues, changes to layouts, and punch‐list items., • Support and help train less‐experienced crew members as needed to maintain quality and productivity. Qualifications and Skills • 1–3+ years of commercial carpet, event flooring, trade‐show, or similar installation experience preferred., • Willing and able to travel frequently, including overnights and extended trips, with flexibility to work nights, weekends, and compressed schedules around event calendars., • Ability to read and follow basic floor plans, booth layouts, labels, and instructions, and to execute accurate layouts under time pressure., • Physically able to lift and roll heavy carpet, work on hands and knees, bend, and stand or walk for long shifts in large venues., • Reliable, punctual, safety‐minded, and professional in appearance and behavior around clients, exhibitors, venue staff, and other contractors., • Able to work effectively as part of a team and take direction from crew leads and project managers., • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to the home‐base warehouse or airport as required by the company. Compensation and Travel Paid • W‐2 employment with hourly pay (plus overtime where applicable)., • Company‐paid travel and lodging for out‐of‐town projects; per diem or meal allowance may be provided according to company policy., • Major tools and materials are provided on site; installer is expected to maintain a basic personal tool set (knives, tape measures, etc.).
