Job Description Location: New Jersey/New York Region (Hybrid) Employment Type: Contract We are seeking a passionate and results-driven Fundraiser to lead a impactful capital campaign to rebuild our century-old synagogue Congregation Beth El in Rutherford, which was tragically destroyed by a fire. This role will be responsible for creating, implementing, and managing fundraising strategies that engage community members, regional and national philanthropists and foundations, and broader networks to raise the necessary funds for the reimagining and reconstruction of a beloved local community. Key Responsibilities · Campaign Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy for a $7-$10million rebuilding campaign. · Donor Engagement: Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual donors, community members, and major gift prospects. · Community Mobilization: Work with synagogue leadership, congregants, and local partners to inspire support through events, outreach, and storytelling. · Grant Writing & Institutional Support: Research and apply for relevant grants and foundation support. · Events & Campaigns: Plan and manage fundraising events, online campaigns, and grassroots initiatives. · Communications: Collaborate with marketing/communications teams to craft compelling campaign materials, social media content, newsletters, and press releases. · Reporting & Stewardship: Track donor contributions, provide regular progress updates, and ensure transparent reporting to stakeholders. Qualifications · Proven track record in fundraising, donor relations, or capital campaigns (nonprofit or faith-based experience a plus). · Excellent communication, networking, and relationship-building skills. · Experience in grant writing, event planning, and campaign management. · Ability to work independently and collaboratively with leadership, staff, and volunteers. · Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and deadlines. · Passion for Jewish communal life, heritage, and rebuilding efforts. Compensation Competitive salary/consulting fee commensurate with experience.
