Job DescriptionInvestment Funds Attorney (Professional Track) – New York, Chicago, or Austin Direct Counsel is seeking an Investment Funds Attorney to join a top-tier global firm on a professional (non-partnership) track. This role is ideal for an attorney with 1–3 years of experience in fund formation who is looking to build deep, specialized experience within a highly regarded Investment Funds practice. About the Role In this position, you will support a sophisticated funds group handling a variety of matters for private investment fund sponsors and institutional investors. Relevant experience includes: * Drafting and negotiating fund organizational documents * Preparing and negotiating investor side letters * Coordinating investor closings and subscription processes * Supporting secondary transactions (a plus, but not required) This is an opportunity to work within a collaborative team that handles complex, high-value fund matters across multiple offices. Key Responsibilities * Perform legal research and analysis related to fund formation and regulatory matters * Draft, review, and revise fund documents, investor communications, and related agreements * Support partners and senior attorneys on fund launches and investor onboarding * Manage deliverables, deadlines, and client communication with professionalism and efficiency * Collaborate across offices and practice groups on client needs * Mentor junior team members as applicable Qualifications * J.D. from an accredited law school * 1–3 years of experience in investment funds, fund formation, or related corporate work * Strong analytical, drafting, and organizational skills * Ability to work independently and within a collaborative team environment * Prior Am Law experience preferred Work Environment * Hybrid schedule with regular in-office engagement * Fast-paced, team-oriented environment that values communication, quality, and responsiveness Compensation The expected salary range for this position is $135,000 – $300,000, depending on experience and location. The firm also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).
