Job DescriptionJob Title: Mitigation Technician Job Description The Mitigation Technician plays a critical role as the first responder to property damage events. You assess the extent of damage, stop further deterioration, and begin immediate mitigation efforts to prepare the property for restoration and reconstruction. Typical tasks include water mitigation, demolition, and setting up drying equipment to ensure the site is safe, stable, and ready for the next phase of work. Responsibilities • Respond promptly to urgent calls related to property damage and arrive on site prepared to begin mitigation work., • Assess damages at residential or commercial properties and determine appropriate mitigation steps to prevent further loss., • Stop the continuation of damage by identifying and addressing sources of water, moisture, or other hazards., • Perform water mitigation activities, including extracting water and drying out affected areas., • Complete demolition tasks such as cutting and removing drywall, lifting carpet from flooded areas, and removing damaged flooring to prevent mold growth., • Move and protect furniture and contents to prevent additional damage during mitigation activities., • Set up, monitor, and take down drying and mitigation equipment according to industry standards and safety guidelines., • Take clear and comprehensive photos of the job site to document conditions before, during, and after mitigation., • Clean up debris and maintain a safe, organized work area throughout the project., • Measure and record moisture levels and other job details using industry-specific applications and software., • Communicate effectively with team members and, when needed, with customers about work being performed and site conditions., • Participate in an on-call rotation, responding to emergency calls during evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled., • Follow all safety procedures and use proper protective equipment while working in potentially hazardous environments.Essential Skills, • Good communication skills to interact clearly with team members and customers., • Current valid driver’s license (required)., • Clear driving record suitable for operating company vehicles., • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds safely and repeatedly., • Ability to work in various environments, including indoors, outdoors, inclement weather, smoke, and other conditions typical of demolition or remodeling sites., • Reliability and strong work ethic, including consistent attendance and punctuality., • Willingness and availability to participate in on-call rotations for evenings, weekends, and holidays., • Basic familiarity with restoration, demolition, construction, or mitigation tasks, even if not formally trained.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Plumbing experience or knowledge is helpful and considered an asset., • Experience in restoration is preferred but not required., • Experience in water mitigation is preferred but not required., • Comfort using industry-specific applications and software to document job details and moisture readings., • Ability to follow detailed instructions and standard operating procedures in a field-based environment.Why Work Here? Work Environment You work primarily in the field at customer properties, performing hands-on mitigation and demolition tasks in a variety of conditions. The typical schedule runs from approximately 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with overtime as needed and participation in a scheduled on-call rotation that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays. The role involves working indoors and outdoors in all types of weather, and in environments that may include smoke, moisture, and other conditions common to demolition, remodeling, and restoration sites. You regularly handle and operate drying and mitigation equipment, move furniture and materials, and use industry-specific software and mobile apps to document work. The position requires frequent lifting of up to 60 pounds and adherence to safety practices, including appropriate work attire and use of protective equipment suitable for construction and restoration settings. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Rochester, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
