Job Description Works-in-Progress Associates (WPA) is seeking an experienced Mechanical Inspector to become an integral part of our team! The Brooklyn Animal Care Center (BACC) project will include demolition of the existing building and construction of a new two-story 23,845 SF building on the same lot. The new facility will house admissions, adoptions, medical services, and boarding for dogs, cats, and rabbits. Support spaces will include open-air courtyards and a dog run, offices, restrooms, and storage. Site work will include parking for staff, visitors, and shelter vehicles, as well as site lighting and low-maintenance planting throughout. This position is in-person, Monday-Friday for the duration of approximately 10 months. Minimum Requirements: • Baccalaureate Degree in engineering/architecture and/or construction related field from an accredited college or university, • Minimum 3 years of full-time experience, • Demonstrated proficiency with all applicable software packages including but not limited to MS Windows; MS Office (including Project, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint), and Adobe Acrobat., • Must be authorized to work in the United States, • Must be willing to undergo a background check, in accordance with local law/regulations. Job Description Works-in-Progress Associates (WPA) is currently seeking a Junior Inspector to join our team! The project involves Design-Build activities to develop, furnish, commission, and install a Laser Intrusion Detection System (LIDS) at 13 under river tube portals and 28 stations in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx, and Queens. The candidate must be flexible regarding work schedule and open to working nights and weekends. Scope of the Work: • Installation laser scanner for the LIDS in the Project’s thirteen (13) under river tubes and twenty-eight (28) stations at both portals and emergency exit shafts at the track level access point. Removal of existing motion detectors and sensors that the laser scanner portion of the LIDS will replace as intrusion detection. Installation of tamper-resistant card readers and internet protocol (IP) intercoms at all approaches outside of the laser scanner’s detection area, to allow MTA employees access without triggering LIDS’s alarm., • Removal of existing analog cameras at some Work Sites to be replaced with IP-cameras, to be connected to new/or existing Network Panels., • Upgrade/replace Access Control Panels (ACP) and Fiber Distribution Panels (FDP), with panels located in the tubes, emergency exit shafts, and at the End of Platform at the twenty-nine (29) stations. The ACP – both new and upgraded – will include equipment for the new LIDS and tamper resistant switches on enclosures and cyber locks. At certain locations, Access Control/Fiber Distribution Panel may be combined in place of 2 separate panels. If difficult to access, panels to be relocated to a maintainable location., • Baccalaureate Degree in engineering/architecture and/or construction related field from an accredited college or university, • 3 years of full-time experience as an inspector in the construction industry, • Background in Electrical Engineering is required., • MTA Track Training Card and PMG123 are required., • OSHA 30 certification is required, • Must be available to work occasional nights and weekends as needed, • A driver's license valid in New York State., • Perform daily inspections to verify that the work is being completed in accordance with the requirements of the Construction Contract Documents., • Prepare Daily Inspection Reports showing the Contractor’s labor force, the location of the construction activities, equipment used, and the actual work being performed. Original paper copies of the reports shall be filed in the Project Office as project documentation., • It is anticipated that the work under this contract will be performed during days, nights, and weekends to meet the aggressive schedule., • As a part of the daily inspection services, the inspectors are expected to fully coordinate the work activities of the Contractor forces and the assigned MTA Agency’ forces. This includes coordinating, arranging, and managing the flagging support, access and protection, agency inspection and test witnessing, track outages, work trains and other agency provided equipment and materials, and other related services., • Any issues or problems encountered during the execution of work shall be resolved expeditiously to avoid impacting the project performance. This position is in-person, Monday-Friday, 6pm – 2am shift, working at Jacobi Medical Center, 1400 Pelham Pkwy South, Building 1, Bronx, NY 10461 with an anticipated duration of 6-8 months. Scope of Work NYC H+H Jacobi Medical Center (JMC) is upgrading the entire fire alarm system throughout Building 1, meeting all code requirements. This includes complete replacement of the existing fire alarm system, removal of fire alarm panels, installation of new fire alarm devices, installing a post fire smoke purge system and pressurization system, installing a new Fire Alarm Command Center (FACC), and Mechanical/Electrical/Plumbing (MEP) upgrades throughout. Job Description Works-in-Progress Associates (WPA) is seeking a Construction Community Liaison to become an integral part of our team! As a Construction Community Liaison, you will be responsible and accountable for being the first point of contact for the project by identifying and resolving issues as well as providing regular updates and advisories.
