Lab Technician Job Duties include: • Eyewear Assembly: Performing the technical processes of edging, blocking, and assembling lenses and frames to accurately meet prescription specifications., • Quality Control (QC): Diligently conducting quality control checks on all finished eyewear before they are processed for patient pickup or shipment, ensuring prescription accuracy and aesthetic standards are met., • Lab Maintenance: Routinely maintaining lab equipment (e.g., edgers, blockers, and tools) and ensuring a clean, safe, and highly organized supplies area to maximize efficiency and longevity of equipment., • Other duties as assigned Lab Technician Required Skills include: • Optical Knowledge: Certification or knowledge of advanced optical terminology, lens materials, and frame types., • Troubleshooting: Ability to quickly diagnose and troubleshoot common issues with edging and blocking equipment., • Mathematical Aptitude: Strong basic mathematical aptitude for interpreting and verifying complex prescription details. Job Description Sylvatex is currently hiring for an Lab Technician. As a technician at Sylvatex, you will support the development of new cathode processing techniques for Li-ion battery testing. You are passionate about positively impacting the environment with innovative clean energy solutions. You are proactive and capable of operating in a fast-paced startup environment with little supervision. Curiosity and optimism are two of your superpowers. This role will report to the Director of Research and Development. The Role: • Running and maintaining processing equipment associated with material production (e.g., kilns, mills, etc.), • Create robust documentation (e.g., batch records, SOPs, reports) and preventative maintenance plans, • Coordinate with researchers to execute and document experimental runs, • Candidate should be able to lift 20-30 pounds daily, • Should be familiar with basic mechanical tools (wrench, drills, etc.), • Prepare electrodes for battery cell assembly and support electrochemical testing, • Maintain clean and well-organized lab areas that meet safety regulations, • High school diploma and above, • R&D experience in an industry setting is a plus, • Ability to multitask and liaise with professionals in different fields, • Proficiency in MS Office or similar, • Ability to understand verbal and written instructions, • Detail-oriented, • Self-starter and a bias for action – do things before being asked to or forced to by events., • Promotes open and effective written and verbal communication, • Actively promotes a positive team spirit, • Actively engages and respects the diverse contributions of teams, partners, or networks., • Demonstrates openness to new ideas, • Look for ways to do things better, faster, and more efficiently, • Flexibility, adaptability, and success at multi‐tasking; willingness and ability to participate in multiple programs simultaneously, • Proven teamwork skills with demonstrated ability to deliver objectives in a cross-functional team environment Compensation & Benefits: Base salary: $65,000-$72,000 (based on experience), overtime eligible, Competitive wages based on experience and expertise, bonus plan, healthcare, paid time off, retirement plan (401K), and stock options Time Commitment: Full time hourly role in our labs in Alameda, CA, and the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, must have reliable transportation to visit the Berkeley lab on a frequent basis.
