Job Description Job Description: Title: HVAC/Facilities Maintenance Technician Location: Charlotte, NC, 28269 Duration: 06-12 Months Contract Pay rate: $29 -$39/Hour (Depends on shift & experience) on W2 Available Shifts • 1st Shift: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, • 2nd Shift: Monday–Friday, 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM, • 3rd Shift: Monday–Friday, 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM Overtime and weekend work may be required based on business needs. Position Summary • We are seeking a skilled Facilities Maintenance Technician / Setup Technician to support the daily operations of our engineering and R&D laboratories., • This hands-on position is responsible for the setup, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of facility infrastructure, HVAC systems, laboratory utilities, and mechanical equipment used for testing and development., • The ideal candidate will have experience working in industrial, manufacturing, laboratory, HVAC, or mechanical environments and possess strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot a wide range of equipment. Key Responsibilities • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on laboratory infrastructure, HVAC equipment, and mechanical systems., • Set up, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair facility and laboratory equipment., • Diagnose and repair pumps, valves, heat exchangers, compressors, piping systems, and other mechanical components., • Support installation, commissioning, and calibration of new laboratory equipment and test systems., • Conduct inspections of chilled water systems, compressed air systems, refrigerant systems, electrical interfaces, and other lab utilities., • Operate and safely use hand tools, pneumatic tools, precision measuring instruments, and diagnostic equipment., • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, equipment manuals, and P&IDs., • Maintain preventive maintenance records, service logs, and spare parts inventory., • Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), safety procedures, and company maintenance standards., • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Minimum Qualifications • High School Diploma, GED, Technical/Trade School Certificate, or Skilled Trades Apprenticeship., • Minimum 1–2 years of experience in facilities maintenance, mechanical maintenance, industrial maintenance, manufacturing, laboratory support, or HVAC environments., • Experience using hand tools, pneumatic tools, and precision measuring instruments., • Experience working with flow, temperature, and pressure measuring equipment., • Basic electrical troubleshooting skills., • Ability to read mechanical drawings, equipment manuals, and technical documentation., • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work safely around mechanical equipment. Preferred Qualifications • 3+ years of experience with HVAC, chiller operations, or facility maintenance., • 2+ years of experience maintaining mechanical and/or electrical machinery., • Experience working with commercial chiller control systems such as Carrier, Trane, York, Daikin, or similar platforms., • Experience supporting HVAC/R testing laboratories or environmental chambers., • EPA 608 Universal Certification (preferred)., • Forklift and/or overhead crane certification (preferred). Work Environment • Frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing ladders, and lifting up to 50 lbs., • Exposure to mechanical equipment, refrigerants, compressed gases, and varying temperatures., • Work in laboratory, industrial, and manufacturing environments., • Occasional overtime, weekend, or after-hours work may be required to support critical maintenance activities.
