JOB DESCRIPTION Job Overview The Production Manager oversees lab staff and plans, directs, and coordinates the daily manufacturing processes in accordance with regulatory and quality management guidelines, business objectives, and corporate culture of providing exceptional service. This role ensures effective communication across production teams and cross-functional colleagues to ensure efficient operations, on-time delivery, and continuous improvement. The Production Manager collaborates with senior leadership to develop and execute manufacturing strategies that drive operational excellence, increase productivity, and support sustainable business growth. Essential Responsibilities and Duties (other duties may be assigned): Leadership & People Management • Provide leadership, direction, and performance management for the laboratory technician team, fostering a collaborative and accountable work environment., • Lead the team in accordance with the T.E.A.M. framework (Training, Expectations, Accountability, Motivation)., • Oversee hiring support, training, scheduling, performance reviews, and ongoing employee development., • Develop and implement production schedules, workflow plans, and duty assignments to meet operational demands., • Analyze and manage job flow, capacity planning, workforce utilization, space requirements, and equipment layout to maximize efficiency and reduce costs., • Coordinate with Customer Service to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment., • Schedule and oversee manufacturing of GP lenses, soft contact lenses, and other medical device components., • Partner with Quality and Regulatory teams to establish and maintain quality control measures that meet regulatory, industry, and customer standards., • Ensure compliance with quality system requirements, proper documentation, and calibration routines., • Oversee cleaning, sanitization, and maintenance of production areas and equipment., • Execute continuous improvement initiatives as directed by the Director of Production., • Monitor, track, and report key performance indicators (KPIs) related to productivity, yield, and quality., • Identify operational inefficiencies and provide data-backed recommendations to the Director of Production., • Ensure that technicians follow established procedures for equipment operation and maintenance., • Provide operational data and reporting to support the Director of Production in decision-making., • Assist with execution of site-level manufacturing plans aligned with company objectives., • Support budget tracking and expense monitoring as requested by the Director of Production., • Maintain current knowledge of regulatory requirements, market trends, and innovations in the contact lens and ophthalmology industries., • Support cross-functional initiatives and special projects as assigned by the Director of Production, • Apply company Fundamentals in daily tasks and professional interactions., • Travel to company labs and partner sites as needed to support assigned responsibilities. Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred., • 5-10 years of contact lens production experience preferred., • 2- 5 years of people management experience., • Strong understanding of contact lens design concepts and manufacturing systems., • Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills., • Demonstrated ability to analyze data, prepare reports, and communicate effectively., • Knowledge of financial and business principles., • High level of technical product knowledge., • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365., • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and teamwork skills., • Professional work ethic and demeanor. Physical Demands and Work Environment • Regularly required to sit, talk, and listen to colleagues and customers., • Occasional lifting or carrying of materials up to 15 pounds., • Exposure to moderate noise levels, dust, and production-related chemicals., • Ability to travel approximately 5% of the time to company sites, labs, industry tradeshows, and events., • Ability to operate a motor vehicle safely and maintain a valid driver’s license., • Ability to travel internationally; valid passport required.
