Job DescriptionBenefits: • Fun and Exciting Place to work, • Being Part of an Amazing team, • Flexible schedule, • Opportunity for advancement, • 401(k), • 401(k) matching, • Career Advancement Opportunities, • Competitive Compensation, • Fun Working Environment, • Interact with Pets Responsibilities • Triage incoming emergency cases by assessing patient condition and urgency, • Interview pet owners to obtain a patient history, • Support triage operations by assessing patient conditions and prioritizing care, • Prioritize patients according to severity and assist in stabilizing critical cases, • Acquire blood samples, • Place Intravenous Catheters to critical patients, • Monitor and record vital signs, administer medications, and provide wound care as directed., • Assist veterinarians in emergency examinations, diagnostics, and treatments., • Assist doctors and other staff members with the administration of medications and with patient restraint, • Prepare and maintain equipment, surgical instruments, and treatment areas for procedures., • Perform laboratory tests, including blood draws, fecal exams, and urinalysis and take radiographs, • Operate in-house diagnostic equipment (e.g., radiography, blood analyzers)., • Safely restrain animals for exams and treatments, ensuring comfort and safety, • Prepare and assist with wound care, bandaging, splinting, and other first-aid procedures, • Assist with surgeries and monitor animals after surgery, • Assist during anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery, • Operate and maintain hospital equipment, including EKG, fluid pump, syringe pump, scales, anesthetic monitors, and machines, etc., • Administer medications and provide at-home dosage instructions for clients, • Fill prescriptions, calculate and administer medications, • Assists veterinarians with a variety of emergency procedures and critical care situations, • Maintain accurate medical records and ensure patient information is updated in the system we are 100% paperless, • Communicate in a positive manner with clients, Communicate compassionately and clearly with pet owners about patient status and care, • Provide emotional support during stressful or end-of-life situations, • Calm and soothe anxious patients, • Keep accurate patient records, • Provide compassionate support and clear communication to pet owners during emergencies, • Assist with cleaning, stocking, and maintaining the emergency treatment area, • Maintain cleanliness and organization of exam, treatment, and ICU areas Qualifications • Previous experience as a Veterinary Assistant or in a similar role is required, • Prior experience in an emergency or critical care veterinary setting is a benefit, • Knowledge of animal care and handling preferred, • Knowledge of veterinary medical terminology, procedures, and safety protocols, • Excellent communication skills, uses effective and appropriate methods of interacting with others, • Strong teamwork, multitasking, and communication skills, • Team Orientation - works cooperatively with the team to address tasks and accomplish goals, • Ability to multi-task and remain organized in a busy environment, • Patience and a love for animals, • Dependability - demonstrates responsibility in completing all job tasks, • Cleanliness Standards - consistently follows sanitization and sterilization policies and procedures, • Energy and Productivity - completes tasks quickly and thoroughly without prompting, • Time Management - manages time and prioritizes work tasks effectively, • Technical Skills and Learning - keeps up-to-date with new technical skills and knowledge in the field, • Ability to remain calm and effective in high-stress situations, • Care and Use of Equipment - takes appropriate steps to perform operation checks and maintenance of equipment
