Job Description Summary: The Criminal Court program provides a safe reception center and various services to assist survivors and victims of crime navigate through the Criminal Court. The program provides counseling, crisis intervention, case management services, advocacy, information and referrals and practical assistance to survivors and victims of crime with an overall goal of promoting survivor safety and reducing the impact of victimization. The Coordinator is responsible for providing holistic support services to victims of all crimes. This included counseling and crisis intervention to assess the needs of victims and to help with the development of safety plans to address immediate risks and concerns. This plan may include the provision of in-person or telephone counseling; emergency assistance such as money for transportation; assistance with an Office of Victim Services (OVS) application; providing information and referrals, and follow-up services; and providing assistance with obtaining an order of protection, restitution, and other criminal justice remedies. The Coordinator will advocate on the client’s behalf with public entitlement programs, schools, employers, civil legal attorneys, and other community-based organizations, and coordinate and collaborate with the OVS Vocational Rehabilitation Unit and the New York Civil Legal Network to ensure that victims are receiving a comprehensive response. The Coordinator will also assist clients with applying for a New York City Housing Authority emergency housing transfer as an intimidated victim or victim of domestic violence; provide assistance, information and support to clients around securing safe, appropriate housing through available subsidies; or access other available resources in the City that suit the individual’s needs to help maintain housing stability in their current residence. Position Summary: The Dance Activity Specialist will lead engaging and inclusive dance classes for elementary school students (grades K–5) in an after-school program setting. The specialist will plan and facilitate lessons that are culturally responsive, developmentally appropriate, and accessible to students with varying skill levels. The role emphasizes fostering creativity, building confidence, and promoting teamwork through dance. Reports to: Program Director Compensation: $30-$45 an hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This is an in-person position for the school year from September through June with potential rehire for summer and the following year. Responsibilities: • Supervise all activities to ensure the health, safety and well-being of program participants., • Develop and implement lesson plans that introduce students to a variety of dance styles and techniques (e.g., hip-hop, ballet, modern, cultural/folk, creative movement), • Create a culturally responsive environment that honors and reflects the diverse backgrounds of students., • Incorporate skill-building activities that progress over time, culminating in a student showcase or performance, • Manage classroom and maintain positive learning environment., • Build positive relationships with youth and adults and serve as a role model with respect to demeanor, communication and overall attitude., • Ensure proper care of all spaces and materials, organize room and report any misused or damaged materials to the Program Director., • Complete and submit in a timely manner all program reports relative to this position, including but not limited to: supply request, lesson plans, incident reports, attendance, and timesheets., • Assist Program Coordinator with ordering and maintaining equipment and/or supplies., • Actively participate in training sessions, designated meetings and special events.
