Job Description About Our Organization: EnCompass: Resources for Learning is a nonprofit organization established in 2004 by families, educators, and community leaders to meet the needs of Rochester students. Today, EnCompass provides 2,400 students and their families, annually, with a cradle-to-career pathway of academic, wraparound, college and career-readiness, and job training and placement services. Job Summary: The Future Ready Navigator helps students chart individualized paths to success in middle school, high school, and beyond. Through a solutions-focused approach, navigators support students in identifying strengths, overcoming challenges, and exploring and pursuing college and career interests. The person in this role will be part of a team focused on mitigating barriers by providing wraparound support services through mentorship, family outreach, and connection to community resources. This position requires a high level of flexibility and familiarity with local schools and agencies. Job Responsibilities: • Meet one-to-one and in small groups with an assigned caseload of middle and/or high school students., • Assess students’ strengths and needs to create appropriate individualized goals., • Develop a plan of action to address needs, mitigate barriers to school engagement, and work toward self-identified short and long-term goals., • Conduct school and home visits as appropriate in a “whole-child” model. Communicate with families monthly, at minimum., • Maintain records and data regarding program participation, one-to-one/small-group meetings, school engagement, family needs, etc., • Develop trusting, developmental relationships with students and their families., • Utilize a solutions-focused approach to help students identify assets and strengths and leverage them to solve problems., • Plan and facilitate social-emotional learning enrichments to support skill development., • Refer and connect students to appropriate community resources that can address their specific needs., • Communicate with direct service providers to ensure appropriate referrals, monitor progress, and coordinate services., • Collaborate with school-based staff to understand students’ needs, monitor student progress, and foster effective communication between school and family., • Facilitate weekly “student report” meetings to update the whole team on relevant student information., • Support academic and enrichment programming as determined by the Future Ready leadership team., • Participate in and contribute to team, employer, and school meetings, presenting data and observations of youth progress and performance., • Identify youth who need more intensive services; refer youth and families to Family Navigation (when appropriate)., • Chaperone off-site trips, including an occasional weekend event and an annual multi-day overnight college tour., • May provide students with transportation to and from program, when necessary, using EnCompass vehicles., • Participate in professional development, orientations, and student events.
