Job DescriptionSalary: Hours: Monday- Friday : 8AM - 4:30 PM ( Rotating Weekends ) Duties and Responsibilities: • Frequently check the work order system, • Repair of roofing, siding, buildings, minor electrical, irrigation repairs, painting., • Performing minor plumbing and electrical repairs, as well as light carpentry, • Cleaning and replacement of filters on various HVAC units, • Changing light bulbs and ballasts, • Assisting with special construction projects, • Perform janitorial tasks as needed including trash removal and cleaning, • Perform snow removal using hand tools and/or snow removal equipment, • Perform other duties as assigned, • High school diploma or GED, • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in repair, maintenance and replacement in the areas of carpentry, painting, plumbing, glass replacement, masonry, appliance repair, HVAC, electrical wiring and basic locksmith knowledge, • Ability to perform a variety of physical tasks, including but not limited to climbing ladders, bending, kneeling, reaching and standing for long periods of time, lifting and carrying boxes up to 50 lbs., tools, equipment and building materials, • Ability to maintain and utilize a variety of hand and power tools, • Knowledge of safety practices and procedures related to building and construction, • Excellent written and oral communication skills, • Entry level computer skills, • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions, • Ability to work overtime on an as needed basis, • Accept training to obtain necessary certificates

RESPONSIBILITIES • Assist the Superintendent in any repair, as necessary., • Provide light electrical repairs on appliances, fixtures, switches, outlets, circuits, etc., • Perform light plumbing work, at a minimum outside the wall repairs; this includes clearing stoppages, replacement of fittings, changing of deck mounts and replacement of other fixtures and fixtures parts., • Replace broken glass, tile, carpet, screens, garbage disposals, fixtures, appliance, and locks., • Assist in groundwork when necessary., • Assist in porter work, which includes: sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, emptying trash and cleaning windows., • Perform swimming pool maintenance as assigned by supervisor., • Assist with plumbing issues, work on floor and sheetrock issues, trace water leaks and check for bedbugs., • Assist with electrical issues and compactor room clean-up., • Perform other duties as assigned by manager. QUALIFICATIONS • High school diploma or equivalent credentials., • One to two years relevant experience in building repairs, including electrical, plumbing, locksmith and general maintenance., • Certification in operation of all fire department standards such as Standpipe with City Mains, Fire Drill Conductor, Maintenance of I side Alarm System and Supervision of Low PSI Oil Burner., • Proficiency in standards applied by the OSHA and Department of Health for kitchen operation, youth programs and congregate social service programs., • Proficiency in English required; proficiency in a second language preferred., • Ability to pass a physical skills test., • Valid drivers license preferred., • Pool operators certificate preferred., • Strong mechanical skills., • Ability to climb and stand on a 15-foot ladder., • Ability to lift, pull, push and/or move a minimum of 60 pounds., • Ability to stand, walk, crouch or sit for long periods of time., • Ability to climb five flights of stairs., • Ability to bend and retrieve objects., • Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via vehicle and/or public transportation., • Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather, if required to conduct home visits and/or field work., • Strong mechanical skills, • Strong communication and organization skills and ability to work with multiple agency personnel and vendors. RESPONSIBILITIES • Maintenance/Repair, • Assist the superintendent in any repairs as necessary., • Facilitate work order repairs including plumbing, furniture assembly, Window ballast repair, patch and paint., • Conduct visual inspections to ensure monthly maintenance has occurred on building systems., • Locksmith duties: include cutting keys and installing locks., • Safety Adherence/Maintain facility standards, • Ensure quality standards by following procedures, including work assessment, preparation, and clean up., • Demonstrate ability to follow OSHA safety guidelines, including use of appropriate PPE and chemicals., • Maintain required inventory on each floor, including gloves, bags, mops, brooms and PPE, • Maintain compliance with DOHMH and Osha guidelines for cleanliness throughout the facility., • Lead in performing patch/ repairs; address plumbing concerns, furniture repair or set up during unit turnover, • Clean units during turnovers, including packing, cleaning of appliances, floors, kitchens and bathrooms., • Attending monthly staff meetings., • Participate in skills training, and training related to all Bronxworks staff, including mandated reporter, and Osha standards training., • Collaborate with team members and leadership to restore units for occupancy., • Maintain floors - Sweeping daily, moping all areas and buffing and waxing all areas of the building as needed., • Maintain cleanliness of the laundry room, vent cleaning, • Setup/breakdown for small and large events that occur throughout the building., • High school diploma or equivalent credentials are required., • A minimum of two years of building maintenance experience., • Proficiency in English required; proficiency in a second language preferred., • Valid driver’s license from the state in which the bearer resides preferred, with less than three (3) points acquired in the last three (3) years, • Strong maintenance skills., • Ability to pass a physical skills test., • Ability to climb and stand on a 15-foot ladder., • Ability to lift, pull, push and/or move a minimum of 60 pounds., • Ability to stand, walk, crouch or sit for long periods of time., • Ability to climb five flights of stairs., • Ability to bend and retrieve objects., • Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation.
