Job DescriptionLHH is actively seeking a Payroll Manager experienced in UKG for one of our top clients! This will be a contract opportunity with our client and is open to being remote; however, candidates able to commute once per week to Culver City is highly preferred! Role Overview The Payroll Manager is responsible for leading end-to-end payroll operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery for all employees. This role requires deep expertise in payroll regulations and tax laws, strong leadership capability, and a continuous-improvement mindset. The Payroll Manager will partner cross-functionally-including with international teams-to deliver a seamless payroll experience while driving efficiency, compliance, and scalability across the organization. Key Responsibilities Payroll Operations & Delivery • Oversee accurate and timely payroll processing across all payroll cycles, • Ensure proper calculation of wages, deductions, taxes, garnishments, and withholdings, • Review and approve payroll reconciliations, • Coordinate domestic and international payroll processing, • Develop, maintain, and enforce payroll policies and procedures, • Stay current on payroll regulations and proactively apply changesCompliance & Regulatory Management, • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll tax laws, • Prepare and file payroll tax returns and reports, including W-2s, 1099s, and related filings, • Manage payroll audits and respond to tax agency inquiries, • Partner with international entities to maintain global compliance, • Identify and mitigate payroll compliance risksPayroll Systems & Data Integrity, • Manage payroll system administration, configuration, and data accuracy, • Lead system upgrades, enhancements, and troubleshooting, • Collaborate with IT and other departments on system integrations, • Develop and maintain custom reports and analytics, • Ensure data security, privacy, and confidentialityPolicies, Documentation & Training, • Review, update, and implement payroll policies and procedures, • Document payroll workflows and create training materials, • Communicate payroll policies clearly and consistently to employees, • Ensure policies align with regulatory changes and business needsReporting & Analytics, • Prepare accurate and timely reports for Finance, HR, and leadership, • Produce standard, ad-hoc, and business intelligence reports, • Build and maintain dashboards to monitor payroll KPIs, • Analyze trends to support business decisionsEmployee Support & Issue Resolution, • Respond to employee payroll inquiries with accuracy and professionalism, • Resolve discrepancies and explain payroll policies, pay statements, and tax documents, • Partner with HR to address escalations and employee concernsAudit & External Partnerships, • Serve as the primary contact for external payroll auditors, • Prepare audit documentation and schedules, • Respond to audit findings and implement recommendations, • Coordinate with internal teams to support audit requirementsConfidentiality & Data Protection, • Safeguard sensitive employee and payroll data, • Ensure compliance with data protection and privacy laws, • Maintain strict access controls and confidentiality standardsProcess Improvement & Innovation, • Identify opportunities to streamline payroll processes, • Automate manual workflows and implement best practices, • Lead payroll improvement initiatives and measure outcomes, • Continuously improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalabilityCompensation Modeling & Analysis, • Analyze and model compensation and pay structures, • Support internal equity, market competitiveness, and organizational goals, • Partner with leadership on compensation reporting and insightsQualifications Required • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, • 7-10 years of progressive payroll experience, • Extensive knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax laws, • Deep experience with UKG Pro, UKG WFM, and payroll systems, • Proven experience managing payroll audits and compliance reviews, • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office, • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and motivate a teamPreferred, • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification, • Experience with UKG People Analytics, • Experience supporting international payroll operationsPay Details: $42.00 to $50.00 per hour Search managed by: Kaitlynne Hope Benefit offerings available for our associates include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, additional voluntary benefits, EAP program, commuter benefits and a 401K plan.
