Job Description Middle School Digital Learning & STEAM Integrationist Overview: Dwight-Englewood School, the largest independent school in Bergen County, NJ, and a growing, vibrant, and diverse learning community in the New York City metro area, is seeking to fill our new Middle School Digital Learning & STEAM Integrationist position. This role is designed for an outstanding individual with a big picture perspective of schools, teaching and learning, and adolescent development who can work collaboratively with colleagues while building engaging experiences for students. Time Allocation: 50% faculty support and coaching, 25% teaching Middle School STEAM classes, and 25% after-school STEAM programming. The right individual will be a key member of the Middle School team, partnering with teachers to integrate technology, AI-informed practices, STEAM, and experiential learning into curriculum. This person will also teach STEAM-related classes and will lead a thoughtful review and redesign of after school STEAM offerings to create a cohesive program, student-centered program. Essential Responsibilities: * Actively support the Mission of the School and put that vision into daily practice. * Supporting Middle School faculty with meaningful and transformative technology integration / Artificial Intelligence (AI) pedagogical responses as a coach. * Provide on-the-ground classroom support (modeling, co-teaching, troubleshooting, and reflection) to help teachers implement technology and AI practices in developmentally appropriate, mission-aligned ways. * Design and facilitate targeted professional development and resource development (workshops, quick guides, exemplars, office hours) that builds shared capacity, consistency, and and fluency with digital tools and pedagogical strategies. * Lead targeted professional learning and resource development (workshops, quick guides, exemplars, office hours) that builds shared capacity, consistency, and confidence across the division. * Collaborate with Chief Innovation Officer, Faculty Tech Liaisons, and the Technology Department to chart the direction of the school’s growth. * Teach two sections of Middle School elective classes in the STEAM fields. * Teach Digital Literacy & Wellbeing to 6th and 8th grade students in assigned sections (quarter long classes). * Lead the revamping and redevelopment of after-school activities in the STEAM offerings, including program design and implementation. * Oversee the school’s Innovation Lab and provide opportunities for individual students and classes to use the space. Desired Qualities: The ideal candidate will offer most or all of the following qualities or characteristics as well as the qualifications that follow: * A true love of working with Middle School students and a deep knowledge of adolescent development * Be present, approachable, encouraging, and positive * Clear, consistent, and dynamic communication with the ability to genuinely connect with and listen to students, teachers, and parents * Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse educational environment. * Experience leading teams of students and adults * Strong collaborative focus and desire to work closely with the educator teams to plan, solve problems, and coordinate across grade levels * Working knowledge of technology integration frameworks (SAMR, TPACK, etc.) and educational AI tools * Working knowledge of educational research and emerging technologies, including the application of AI in learning, the neuroscience of adolescent development, effective assessment design, and experiential & integrated pedagogical models Position Requirements: * A Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s preferred) * At least three years of teaching experience, with a strong background in Middle School instruction, leadership experience strongly preferred * Personal and professional alignment to the school’s mission, vision, and values * Knowledge of and commitment to diversity, multiculturalism, and anti-bias education in all aspects of the work with Middle School students, families, and colleagues * Excellent oral, written, and electronic communication skills * Fulfill occasional night and weekend responsibilities that support the School and help build its community Terms of Employment: * This is a full-time, 10 month faculty position * Professional days are considered work days and participation in planned activities is mandatory * Standard working hours are 8 am to 4 pm with attendance at weekly division/department meetings required. These meetings may go as late as 5 pm * Salaries are based on years of experience and education level. The salary range for this position based on the requirements stated above is 68K to 100K.
