Job Description Job Title: Engineer Technician IV Job Description The Engineer Technician IV provides advanced technical support to engineering teams across a wide range of projects and products. This senior-level role collects, maintains, organizes, compiles, and manipulates technical data, prepares detailed engineering documentation, and supports testing, analysis, and reporting activities. The position requires strong analytical skills, the ability to work independently within established policies and practices, and frequent interaction with internal teams and external customers. The Engineer Technician IV may lead or train others, contribute directly to project schedules and outcomes, and play a key role in administering and managing joint use, permitting, and asset management processes. Responsibilities • Collect, maintain, organize, compile, and manipulate technical data to support engineering projects and products., • Create, build, assemble, modify, and/or repair prototypes as needed for engineering activities., • Prepare engineering documentation, including reports, drawings, sketches, flow charts, diagrams, schematics, and other technical materials., • Perform mathematical calculations in accordance with engineering specifications and project requirements., • Undertake data analyses following provided guidelines and document findings clearly and accurately., • Recommend alternative solutions to technical problems and obstacles, using sound judgment and established practices., • Set up and conduct tests, record data, and assist with engineering analysis to support project objectives., • Apply a complete understanding of general and technical aspects of the job to complete a wide range of tasks with minimal supervision., • Exercise independent judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions within defined practices and policies., • Contribute to the fulfillment of project and organizational objectives, with decisions and achievements directly impacting project schedules., • Interact daily with internal peer groups and external customers, exchanging and presenting factual information in a clear and professional manner., • Perform standard scientific and engineering studies for less complex work and assist in conducting scientific tasks for more complex projects, such as permit applications or calibration of mathematical models., • Administer and generate joint use fines in accordance with established processes and guidelines., • Generate and manage transfer notifications through Alden One to support joint use and pole-related activities., • Create and assign WAMS asset numbers for new assets and projects, ensuring accurate asset tracking and documentation., • Intake, process, and manage engineering as-built documentation to maintain accurate records., • Process and manage right-of-way (ROW) permitting applications across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring compliance with applicable requirements., • Intake, review, approve, and process customer applications in a timely and accurate manner., • Investigate Alden One and WAMS for pole replacement work orders and transfer statuses related to the Double Pole project, and take appropriate follow-up actions., • Manage Master Pole Attachment Agreements and maintain Certificates of Insurance for a large portfolio of Wireline customers., • Compile and generate billing reports for accounting teams to support invoicing of joint use customers., • Collaborate with Cost Accounting and P&CM to accurately assign invoices to billable work orders., • Issue permits for Joint Use and Wood Pole Design teams, ensuring all permits are properly authorized and compliant with regulations., • Conduct thorough research and take necessary actions to address and resolve customer complaints effectively and professionally., • Create comprehensive internal and external reports and metrics to support operational visibility and decision-making., • Generate reports to identify work orders that are ready for closure in WAMS and support the closure process., • Monitor and address Customer Called completes, including managing a backlog of inspections and overdue customer final close-outs from previous years., • Plot, research, and field quarter section maps, including performing related fieldwork in varying weather conditions., • Demonstrated experience providing technical support to engineers on projects and products., • Strong ability to collect, maintain, organize, compile, and manipulate technical data., • Proficiency in preparing engineering documentation such as reports, drawings, sketches, flow charts, diagrams, and schematics., • Ability to perform mathematical calculations based on engineering specifications., • Experience conducting data analysis using provided guidelines and documenting results., • Capability to recommend alternative technical solutions and resolve problems using independent judgment., • Experience setting up and conducting tests and recording data to support engineering analysis., • Solid understanding of general and technical aspects of engineering The role follows a hybrid work schedule that includes time in the office, in the field, and remote work. The Engineer Technician IV will typically work in the office at least two days per week, spend approximately two days per week performing field activities such as plotting, researching, and visiting sites for quarter section maps, and work remotely one day per week. The position requires being local to the Seattle area and able to travel around the region for fieldwork and on-site responsibilities. The work environment involves using tools and systems such as Microsoft Excel, AutoCAD, Alden One, and WAMS, along with standard office and computer equipment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Seattle, WA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $38.00/hr.
