Job Description Functional Job Title: Lifeguard (Hourly) Location: Lehman College - School for Continuing and Professional Studies, APEX Center Salary: $18 per hour Status: Part-time Schedule: Must have a flexible schedule to work daytime and evening (ie., 2X per week 5-7:30pm) shifts, and weekends. General Description Lehman College Continuing Education is seeking responsible and experienced individuals to join our team as part-time Lifeguards for our adult and youth classes and summer camp. You will be responsible for ensuring the safety of students in our aquatic facility by actively patrolling the pool area, enforcing safety regulations, and responding to emergencies. This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals passionate about water safety and providing excellent customer service. Responsibilities • Actively patrol the pool deck and aquatic area, enforcing safety rules and regulations, • Scan the water for swimmers in distress and respond appropriately, • Perform rescue procedures as needed, ensuring the safety of patrons, • Maintain a clean and safe pool environment, • Provide first aid and CPR to patrons in need, • Communicate effectively with patrons, staff, and supervisors, • Maintain accurate logs and documentation, • Proficient in independently using the College's various platforms, including payroll, and email communication, • Provide prompt and efficient service to College staff, • Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification or equivalent, • Current CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification (must be issued within 1 year of obtaining certification), • Excellent swimming skills and physical fitness, • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independentlyCompany DescriptionWith more than 60,000 alumni and 12,000 students, Lehman College serves the Bronx and our surrounding region as an intellectual, economic, and cultural center.
