Job Description Our organization is seeking a Hematology-Oncology Physician for a position that includes a dual academic role with a local health science center. This role will report to the Section Chief of Hematology Oncology and will have administrative accountability to the Chief of Medicine (Specialty Care). The Hematology-Oncology Clinic is comprised of three physicians along with a dedicated team of medical support staff. The main medical facility is supported by ten community-based outpatient clinics, designed to provide services to veterans closer to their residences. As a 1a-complexity tertiary care center, our organization is part of the largest healthcare system globally and is situated in a rapidly growing region with a significant veteran population in the United States. We deliver comprehensive care to over 47,000 veterans across a 52-county area, which includes Western Tennessee, Northern Mississippi, and Northeast Arkansas. The facility features 236 inpatient beds, including a 26-bed Spinal Cord Injury Unit, and provides in-house Radiation Therapy. As a teaching hospital, we offer training to a diverse range of residents, fellows, and patient care services, utilizing cutting-edge technology. Key Responsibilities: • Engage in clinical practice while supervising and educating fellows, residents, and medical students., • Conduct rounds with fellows, residents, and medical students in inpatient environments., • Provide consultations in Hematology-Oncology for both diagnosis and treatment in inpatient and outpatient settings., • Share on-call responsibilities, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required., • Collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team within Specialty Care to deliver optimal care to veterans., • Initiate necessary referrals and consultations to other clinical services, as well as order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests., • Assess the effectiveness of previously administered medical treatments., • Conduct follow-up with patients to promote health and prevent disease., • Involve patients, families, and caregivers in care planning and setting realistic, measurable health goals., • Document health assessments, clinical evaluations, treatment decisions, care plans, ongoing management, therapeutic outcomes, medication orders, diagnostic tests, and referrals using the electronic comprehensive patient record system (CPRS) on a daily basis., • Demonstrate leadership by implementing changes in patient care programs based on current research and findings., • Salary Based on Experience: $320,000-$350,000, • Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 4:30 PM, with periodic on-call duties during nights, weekends, and holidays., • CME Reimbursement: Up to $1,000 annually (Board Certification required)., • Malpractice Liability Protection with tail coverage included., • Recruitment Incentive available for highly qualified candidates., • Potential for Education Debt Reduction Program (Student Loan Repayment)., • Relocation Assistance for highly qualified candidates., • Opportunity to participate in multiple tumor boards weekly and engage in clinical research trials., • MD or DO degree., • Board Eligible/Certified in Hematology Oncology., • Eligibility for a Faculty Appointment at the local health science center., • Possession of a full and unrestricted medical license from any state., • Current BLS/CPR Certification., • U.S. Citizenship required., • Paid Time Off: 26 vacation days, 13 sick days, 11 holidays, and 5 days for CME attendance., • Pay Incentives: Regular salary increases and an annual performance bonus., • Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance options., • Retirement Benefits: Traditional Federal Pension (5-year vesting) and Federal 401K with up to 5% agency match., • No Employment Contract: No significant restrictions on moonlighting.
