Job Description Our organization is seeking a Rheumatologist for the Millington Community-Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC), which includes a dual academic role with the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC). This clinic is part of the Department of Veterans Affairs and operates under the Memphis VA Medical Center, being one of the largest among twelve community-based clinics in the Memphis VA network. The Memphis VA is classified as a 1a complexity tertiary care facility, situated in a rapidly growing region with a significant Veteran population in the United States. The main campus serves nearly 69,000 Veterans across a 52-county area that includes Western Tennessee, Northern Mississippi, and Northeast Arkansas. It features 236 inpatient beds, including a 26-bed Spinal Cord Injury Unit. As a teaching hospital, it offers a comprehensive range of patient care services, equipped with advanced technology, alongside extensive educational and research initiatives. The facility provides a broad spectrum of healthcare services, covering various medical fields such as cardiology, surgery, psychiatry, physical medicine and rehabilitation, spinal cord injury, neurology, oncology, rheumatology, geriatrics, women’s health, and dentistry. Key Responsibilities: • Engage in clinical practice while supervising and educating fellows, residents, and medical students., • Provide consultations to non-rheumatology services for hospitalized patients with rheumatological issues., • Conduct outpatient rheumatology consultations and clinical appointments for Veterans with both acute and routine concerns., • Ensure that treatments are safe, timely, efficient, effective, evidence-based, and centered around the patient., • Share on-call responsibilities with fellow Rheumatologists/Internal Medicine Specialists, covering nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary., • Participate in rounds with teams of fellows, residents, and medical students in inpatient settings., • Clinical duties may include assessments and evaluations in both inpatient and outpatient settings, managing healthcare for assigned Veterans with acute and chronic conditions, ordering and interpreting lab and diagnostic tests, and facilitating patient follow-ups. Responsibilities also encompass health promotion, disease prevention, and education for patients, families, and staff, along with involvement in clinical research., • Salary based on experience., • Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 4:30 PM., • CME Reimbursement: Up to $2000 annually (Board Certification required)., • Malpractice Liability Protection with tail coverage included., • Potential recruitment sign-on incentive for highly qualified candidates., • MD/DO degree., • Board Eligible/Board Certified in Rheumatology., • Eligibility for Faculty Appointment with UTHSC., • Possession of a full and unrestricted medical license from any state., • Current BLS/CPR Certification., • U.S. Citizenship: Non-citizens may be considered if qualified citizens cannot be recruited., • Paid Time Off: 26 vacation days, 13 sick days, 11 holidays, and 5 CME attendance days., • Pay Incentives: Regular salary increases and an annual performance bonus., • Biennial Market Pay Review and potential increases., • Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance options., • Retirement benefits including a Traditional Federal Pension (5-year vesting) and a Federal 401K with up to a 5% agency match., • No employment contract required, allowing for flexibility in moonlighting.
