This role is ideal for a mid‑level practitioner with strong litigation experience, excellent communication skills, and a proven ability to independently manage family law matters from start to finish. Candidates must reside in Hillsborough County, be familiar with local judges and procedures, and have a track record of courtroom advocacy. This is a remote freelance role with flexible scheduling, consistent case flow, and no marketing or intake responsibilities. You will handle a wide range of family law matters—including divorce, custody, support, post‑judgment issues, dependency, and domestic violence—while collaborating with a supportive, high‑performing legal team. RESPONSIBILITIES Client Representation & Case Strategy • Represent clients in divorce, custody, child and spousal support, post‑judgment issues, dependency, and domestic violence matters., • Develop and execute tailored legal strategies based on case facts, client goals, and applicable law., • Prepare for and conduct hearings, mediations, negotiations, evidentiary proceedings, and trials., • Maintain proactive, empathetic communication with clients regarding case status and next steps. Litigation, Drafting & Legal Analysis • Draft and review pleadings, motions, briefs, affidavits, settlement agreements, and related documents., • Conduct legal research and case analysis to support litigation and settlement strategies., • Prepare organized, complete, and court‑ready case files with no missing documents or overlooked evidence. Collaboration & Case Management • Work closely with paralegals, support staff, and expert witnesses to strengthen case outcomes., • Assign and oversee work performed by legal support staff to ensure accuracy and timeliness., • Participate in bi‑weekly case review meetings with firm leadership to assess strategy, support needs, and payment status., • Maintain accurate case records and ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and firm standards. Performance, Accountability & Remote Work • Track billable time and value delivered in accordance with firm policies., • Meet performance expectations and contribute to a collaborative, growth‑oriented team culture., • Manage digital workflows, remote communication, and virtual case management with professionalism., • Travel to Tampa and St. Petersburg courts as needed for hearings, trials, and other proceedings. QUALIFICATIONS • Licensed Florida attorney in good standing with a JD from an accredited law school., • Must currently reside in Hillsborough County, FL and have experience practicing in Hillsborough courts., • Minimum 3 years of family law experience., • Proven litigation experience, including hearings, mediations, and trials., • Strong legal writing skills with the ability to draft high‑quality pleadings and motions., • Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills and sound judgment., • Highly organized professional capable of managing a demanding caseload remotely., • Empathetic communicator who can guide clients through emotionally charged situations., • Prior experience working remotely., • Prolonged periods of sitting and computer work., • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds., • Ability to travel locally as needed.
