Additionally, we're looking to fill other management and assistant positions throughout the company. Our Club Managers are direct supervisors of their Assistant Dock Manager(s) and a team of Dockmasters. An outline of the job duties is listed below. A typical day as a Dockmaster at FBC: Customer service is a must. Meet and greet every member with a smile and always be of assistance. Arrive at work, check and fuel vessels. Prep all vessels (board the vessel, start the boat, ensure all systems are functional, all safety gear is on board the vessel, and the vessel is in proper working order). Assist members and guests on and off boats with any equipment they may have. Complete a thorough checkout via our electronic reservation system on company iPads. Complete a thorough check-in/finalization and obtain electronic funds for members' fuel consumption. Clean the vessel thoroughly upon return. Answer and field any questions from members in person or on the phone. Perform minor maintenance on boats to ensure basic safety systems are operational. The day will typically start at 8:00 am and end at or around sunset. DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: • Lead a team of Dockmasters at their club location (including hiring, training, scheduling, etc.), • Maintain host marina relations and prioritize being an excellent neighbor to all, • Maintain and care for a fleet of vessels, • Provide remarkable and memorable customer service to members on and off the boats, • Administrative needs for their location (budget, inventory, etc.) In addition to the Assistant Dock Manager responsibilities, they also will be a Dockmaster themselves: • Greet members in a friendly, upbeat, courteous, and professional manner, • Assist members in boarding / un-boarding boats with an emphasis on safety, • Check-out members using a handheld computer tablet, • Perform check of equipment on board (life vests, anchors, dock lines, etc.), • Check-in members returning with boats and charge a credit card for fuel payment, • Familiarize yourself with local waters to provide essential chart guidance to members, • Drive boats between slips and fuel dock, • Fuel boats at the marina fuel dock, • Clean boats and stage equipment for their next outing, • Deep clean boats as needed, • Daily clerical work to prepare reservation log, fuel log, and weather reports, • Weekend/Holiday shifts required (FBC is open weekends and most holidays) QUALIFICATIONS: • High School diploma, • Must be at least 21 years old, • Willingness to promote company values and be a team leader with excellence, • Boating experience or a love for boating (we train boat driving/operating), • Ability to perform minor boat maintenance like bilge pumps, fuses, fluids, etc. (we train this), • Physical ability to lift/carry up to 30 lbs regularly, • Physical ability to board and un-board boats dozens of times per day, • Physical ability to clean boats, often using a handle-mounted brush and water hose, • Physical ability to kneel/stoop to clean the interior of boat compartments and secure boats, • Vision adequate to read/manipulate hand-held computer tablets in bright sunlight, • Have a mobile device to use company communication apps outside work (Slack, ADP, etc.), • Ability to maintain a calm, positive attitude during periods of high activity, • Highly effective communications skills and friendly customer service is required, • Must be a self-starter and capable of working unsupervised occasionally, • High attention to detail, • Maintain a clean work area, • Control the traffic in the marina area and assist customers with docking boats, • Always operate with an emphasis on guest hospitality, • Use the "clean as you go" method when performing your work duties, • Adhere to all safety policies, • Maintain a cooperative, team attitude in working with supervisors and fellow employees, • Maintain a positive attitude toward the dock and the job being performed Compensation: $18.50 - $21 per hour plus tips Upon successful review, Full-Time and Year-Round Assistant Dock Managers may be eligible for participation in our group medical & dental insurance plan. Job DescriptionThe International Pacific Halibut Commission (IPHC) is seeking to hire Setline Survey Specialists for deployment on contracted longline vessels operating in the waters of Canada and the USA. This announcement serves as the notice of these opportunities. The IPHC is a public international organization and as such will consider applicants regardless of nationality or location. Non-US Citizens will be required to obtain a G-4 VISA for work in the USA. Non-Canadian Citizens will be required to obtain a Canadian Work Permit for work in Canada. The IPHC Secretariat will assist in VISA acquisition. OVERVIEW: Under the direction of the Setline Survey Coordinator (SSC) who reports to the Executive Director, the Setline Survey Specialist (Field) positions are responsible for services and support of the International Pacific Halibut Commission’s (IPHC) Fishery-Independent Setline Survey (FISS). The Setline Survey Specialists will undertake organizational services on their assigned IPHC chartered vessel including, but not limited to, catch effort statistics, biological data collection and IPHC Secretariat field support. Setline Survey Specialists (Field) can expect to work from various ports throughout the Pacific Northwest, British Columbia, and Alaska. Work aboard on an IPHC Fishery-Independent Setline Survey (FISS) vessel involves collecting and recording length, sex, maturity, and age data from Pacific halibut. Information on other species catch and projects may also be assigned. Setline Survey Specialists (Field) should be able to work on deck in adverse weather conditions while collecting scientific data and lifting large, heavy fish on a moving vessel. Demersal Longline Vessels participating in the FISS are generally 50-90 ft (15-27 m) and have crew sizes ranging from five (5) to seven (7) individuals. Setline Survey Specialists (Field) must remain flexible and maintain effective interpersonal relations under these conditions as they act as a representative of the IPHC Secretariat with external parties in the field (vessel captains/owners, processors, etc.). Employment date: Mid-to late May 2026 (for training), with field deployment at the end of May 2026. Duration: 21-90 days depending on vessel deployment. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Primary Duties • Obtains biological samples. The biological data may include Pacific halibut fork length, weights, tissue samples and otoliths for stock assessment and other scientific studies (for example, otolith collection)., • Follow approved sampling procedures to determine daily priorities and schedule vessel and sampling activities appropriately., • Works with FISS vessel Captain and IPHC Secretariat at Headquarters to ensure compliance with applicable IPHC Tender Specifications., • Obtains detailed fishing records from the vessel Captain’s logbooks and landing record data., • Monitors delivery of FISS retained catch and ensures the accuracy of the landing report/fish ticket., • Edits all collected data for computer entry., • Responsible for entering all FISS, catch effort data and biological records into the electronic data capture application and mailing end of trip data after each delivery. Issues encountered with electronic data entry and transferring these data may require working with IPHC application developers., • Serve as a representative of the IPHC Secretariat when in port and offloading, and relay information between stakeholders and the IPHC Secretariat while adhering to confidentiality policies and procedures.Secondary Duties, • Incumbent is responsible for writing summaries on sampling techniques, reviewed by the HQ Secretariat to ensure random sampling procedures are utilized and to detail daily activities on the vessel., • Responsible for training other Setline Survey Specialists (Field) on a topic at the pre-season training and as needed., • Submit administrative requirements (e.g. timecards, leave, gear and expense requests, etc.) on time using Secretariat utilized software applications., • Incumbent may be involved in other computer entry work or other fishery-related and biological data collection programs for the IPHC., • Tags and releases Pacific halibut and collects associated information as prescribed in the applicable guide(s). As in all positions at the IPHC, the incumbent will assist with mission support services and other organizational duties as assigned. Salary: This position is rated as an IPHC-GS-9. In 2025 the daily vessel pay rate was US$413- 466 and this will be reviewed in early 2026. Lead Setline Survey Specialists (Field) are paid at the higher rate while non-lead Setline Survey Specialists (Field) are paid at the lower rate. Standby days (non-vessel days, training, travel, etc.) are paid at a lower hourly rate.
