The Mechanical Superintendent ensures that mechanical work meets project specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements while coordinating teams, schedules, and resources across multiple sites, primarily in the DFW area with occasional travel to other project locations. Responsibilities • Supervise mechanical construction and maintenance activities for data center projects, ensuring work aligns with project specifications and engineering standards., • Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with mechanical and safety requirements., • Lead and coordinate mechanical crews and subcontractors, assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and providing day-to-day direction., • Inspect mechanical work regularly to verify compliance with engineering standards, project specifications, and safety regulations., • Implement and maintain quality assurance procedures to ensure consistent workmanship and system performance., • Enforce safety protocols on site, conduct regular safety meetings, and promote a strong safety culture among all team members., • Investigate safety incidents or near-misses, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence., • Develop and maintain detailed work schedules for mechanical activities, adjusting plans as needed to meet project milestones., • Coordinate with other departments and trades to align mechanical work with overall project timelines and critical path activities., • Manage tools, equipment, and materials for mechanical work, ensuring availability, proper use, and efficient allocation of resources., • Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and P&IDs to guide installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems., • Provide technical guidance on process piping, HVAC systems, CRAH units, water cooling systems, switchgear, UPS systems, and related mechanical installations., • Maintain accurate daily logs and progress reports documenting work performed, issues encountered, and resolutions implemented., • Document inspections, quality checks, safety observations, and corrective actions to support project reporting and compliance., • Liaise with suppliers, contractors, and clients to coordinate mechanical work, resolve issues, and ensure contractual obligations are met., • Ensure mechanical work aligns with client expectations and data center operational requirements., • Identify and resolve mechanical issues that arise during construction or maintenance, escalating complex problems as needed., • Recommend improvements or modifications to mechanical systems, installation methods, or processes to enhance reliability and efficiency., • Support commissioning activities for mechanical and MEP systems, including coordination with electrical, HVAC, and control systems., • Utilize construction management and project management tools to track progress, manage documentation, and support reporting.Essential Skills, • 5 to 10 years of experience in construction, mechanical supervision, or a similar role overseeing mechanical work on commercial or industrial projects., • Mechanical background with hands-on experience in mechanical systems, HVAC, process piping, or related disciplines., • Experience as a site supervisor or in a management role leading mechanical crews or subcontractors., • Strong computer skills with the ability to use project management and construction software tools effectively., • Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction schedules to align mechanical work with overall project timelines., • Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and P&IDs for mechanical and MEP systems., • Strong communication skills to coordinate with internal teams, subcontractors, vendors, and clients., • Demonstrated commitment to safety with a strong safety attitude and adherence to safety protocols., • Experience in commercial construction environments, preferably involving data centers or similar critical facilities., • Supervisory skills with the ability to assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide feedback to mechanical teams.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent mechanical engineering education is highly desirable., • Experience working on data center projects, including familiarity with data center mechanical systems such as CRAH units, chillers, water cooling systems, and HVAC equipment., • background in MEP or MEP engineering, including coordination of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems., • Experience with switchgear, UPS systems, substations, and related infrastructure in a data center or commercial setting., • Experience with construction management tools and platforms, including Procore or similar software., • Knowledge of OSHA standards and safety practices in construction and mechanical environments., • Experience with mechanical estimating or involvement in estimating mechanical scopes of work., • Familiarity with process piping, air conditioning systems, and mechanical installations in commercial or industrial facilities., • Project management experience, including planning, scheduling, resource allocation, and progress reporting., • Troubleshooting skills for mechanical and HVAC systems, including diagnosing issues and recommending corrective actions., • Willingness to travel between project sites as needed to support multiple data center locations., • Data center background is beneficial but not required, with the ability to learn and adapt to data center-specific requirements.Work Environment This position is primarily on site at a data center facility in Red Oak, Texas, with regular work at project locations within the DFW area and occasional travel to additional sites as needed. The role operates in an active construction and commissioning environment, working closely with mechanical, electrical, and MEP teams to deliver complex data center projects. You will work around mechanical equipment such as chillers, CRAH units, water cooling systems, HVAC equipment, process piping, switchgear, UPS systems, and substations. The schedule follows standard construction hours, with flexibility required to meet project milestones, support commissioning activities, and address critical issues as they arise. The environment emphasizes safety, collaboration, and the use of modern construction management tools and technology. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $110000.00 - $130000.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
