Job DescriptionSalary: $72,800 - $93,600 per year Position Summary Supports the acquisition and evaluation of puppies by coordinating temperament assessments, physical exams, and breeder agreements. Oversees transport logistics, ensuring safe delivery and proper documentation for all animals. Maintain detailed records of veterinary care, health testing, and breeder performance, while collaborating closely with internal teams to align puppy placement timing and protocols. Supports ethical breeding practices and program development through data tracking, vendor management, and continual refinement of sourcing strategies. Key Responsibilities: Puppy Acquisition and Evaluation • Assist Breeding Manager to source, evaluate, and acquire puppies from external breeders that meet service dog candidate criteria., • Draft, review, and execute breeder agreements, contracts of sale, and health guarantees for all acquired puppies and breeding dogs., • Collect and track all necessary documentation, health records, pedigrees, microchip information, and AKC registration., • Manage invoices and process payments in coordination with the finance department., • Coordinate all logistics related to the safe and timely transport of puppies and breeding dogsincluding flights, ground transport, or personal pickup., • Ensure animals are transported with appropriate health documentation, supplies, and safety protocols., • Align acquisition timing Puppy Program Coordinator, • Assist Breeding Manager to maintain relationships with approved breeding partners and external breeders., • Assist Breeding Manager to oversee selection, health testing, and intake of prospective breeding dogs, ensuring they meet genetic, temperament, and health standards., • Assist Breeding Manager to coordinate breeding schedules, whelping logistics, and developmental tracking of organization-owned breeding dogs and litters., • Schedule and track all required veterinary screenings, including vaccinations, deworming, microchipping, and health clearances., • Organize genetic and orthopedic health testing (e.g., OFA, Penn HIP) for breeding candidates., • Maintain comprehensive, up-to-date records for all puppies and breeding dogs using internal databases., • Track acquisition outcomes, litter statistics, and breeder performance metrics., • Help develop and refine sourcing, acquisition, and breeder evaluation protocols to ensure alignment with the Liberty Dogs mission., • Assist Breeding Manager to monitor trends in temperament, structure, and health across puppies to adjust sourcing strategies as needed. This job operates in a professional office environment, dog kennels, throughout the campus, and in public settings. The noise level in the office is usually moderate, while the noise level in the dog kennels can often be loud. There will be consistent and prolonged exposure to dogs and dog allergens, with limited alternatives available. The role may require attending events and other venues in a representative or working capacity, as well as occasional travel to and from the facility for various errands. This position involves using dog care equipment, training and enrichment supplies, and restraint equipment. Additionally, it requires common office equipment such as computers, printers, digital cameras, phones, and copiers. There may also be a need to use personal and company vehicles. Position Requirements Mental Demands: • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and handle high levels of stress., • Excellent organizational skills, a high level of accuracy, and attention to detail are essential., • The employee must exercise good judgment and self-confidence in decision-making and meet deadlines., • Exceptional attention to detail, a courteous and professional demeanor., • The ability to think clearly, act quickly, and utilize sound judgment in various situations is crucial, as is self-discipline and self-motivation., • Proven and demonstrable knowledge of leadership and management skills., • The employee is often on their feet and may need to walk and escort visitors or volunteers around the campus, play yards, and training areas., • Climbing, balancing, going up and down stairs, and using elevators are also required., • Must have a passion for animals and show empathy and compassion for veteran clients, as well as support the mission of the Liberty Dogs program., • Must be competent in all tasks involved with whelping and neonate puppy care., • Prior background in animal shelter medicine, canine-specific diseases, and standards of cleaning/disinfection., • Professional in appearance and behavior., • Must be confident with current computer skills, including the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), social media, databases, Internet navigation, and research., • Possession of a valid drivers license with clean driving and criminal records., • Must treat animals humanely, with love and concern both on and off the job and transmit these values to others., • Must adhere to all local laws regarding personally owned animals., • A positive attitude is a must!, • Veteran status is a plus.
