Job DescriptionRegional Director Behavioral Health & IDD Services Position Summary The Regional Director is responsible for the development, implementation, quality oversight, and daily operations of assigned programs. Acting on behalf of the organization and under the direction of the Vice President of Operations, this role provides strategic and operational leadership to ensure safe, compliant, and high-quality service delivery. As a senior behavioral health professional, the Regional Director oversees clinical and administrative operations, supervises assigned personnel, ensures regulatory compliance, supports intake and census management, and promotes staff development. The Regional Director functions as the administrator of designated programs, ensuring alignment with agency goals, funder expectations, and regulatory standards. This position maintains a hybrid work schedule that includes office-based work and regular on-site program visits and carries a caseload of at least 90 individuals served. Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Program Oversight * Provide leadership and direction for assigned programs to ensure effective daily operations and achievement of agency and program goals. * Inspire staff to deliver person-informed, recovery-oriented services grounded in hope, strengths, and wellness. * Model a strong commitment to the mission, values, and ethical standards of the organization. * Promote professional growth and development of assigned staff to enhance service quality and operational effectiveness. Clinical, Administrative & Compliance Oversight * Oversee all clinical and administrative functions of residential and supportive service programs within the IDD department. * Ensure services are delivered in compliance with state and federal regulations, accreditation standards, agency policies, and professional and ethical guidelines. * Monitor program performance against established benchmarks and develop corrective action plans to improve outcomes and quality. * Ensure accurate, complete, and timely clinical documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) in accordance with licensing, funder, and agency requirements. * Utilize EHR reporting tools to monitor productivity, documentation compliance, and service utilization. Risk Management & Safety * Support efforts to ensure the safety and security of individuals served, including conducting inquiries, collaborating with investigators, performing root-cause analyses, and implementing corrective actions. * Develop, implement, and monitor practices designed to reduce the risk of fraud, abuse, neglect, and misuse of organizational or client resources. * Ensure all required licenses, certifications, and credentials are maintained and current. * Monitor the physical condition, safety, and appearance of residential and administrative sites. Operations & Workforce Management * Ensure appropriate staffing levels, staff coverage, and scheduling to meet program and regulatory requirements. * Provide administrative oversight to ensure positions are filled, staff work required hours, and assigned duties are completed effectively. * Collaborate with internal operational partners (IT, HR, Talent Acquisition, Staff Success, Procurement) to ensure programs have the infrastructure and resources necessary to operate safely and efficiently. * Attend staff meetings, leadership meetings, and person-centered plan reviews as required. Collaboration & Continuous Improvement * Review data and provide recommendations to leadership to improve the experience of individuals served and the employees who support them. * Work closely with the Director of Community Integration Services and other senior leaders to meet clinical, operational, and administrative objectives. * Maintain effective working relationships with internal teams, external referral sources, and regulatory partners. * Foster an environment that supports person-centered planning, shared decision-making, and accountability. Required QualificationsEducation & Experience * Minimum 7 years of experience providing residential and/or supportive services to adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities and/or mental health disorders. * Minimum 3 years of supervisory or management experience. * Master’s degree in rehabilitation, mental health, or a related human services field preferred. * Valid driver’s license with an acceptable three-year Motor Vehicle Report (MVR). * Ability to successfully complete a background investigation. Core Competencies * Knowledge of community-based services and resources for individuals with intellectual disabilities and mental health disorders. * Strong leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills. * Ability to analyze data, identify risks or trends, and implement timely corrective actions. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including documentation and reporting. * Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively with individuals served, families, staff, leadership, and external partners. * Demonstrated ethical judgment consistent with organizational and professional standards. * Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and adapt to changing operational needs. * Capacity to respond calmly and effectively to crisis situations. * Physical ability to meet the demands of the role and support program needs as required.
