Job DescriptionSalary: Job Title: Industrial Data Engineer Location: Within 60 miles from New Orleans, LA Job Status: Regular, Full-Time, Benefit Eligible FLSA Status: Exempt Reports to: Operations Manager Job Summary: InCentrik is seeking a versatile and self-driven Industrial Automation Engineer with an interest in industrial data. In this hybrid role, you'll design, develop, and deploy industrial control solutions (PLC/SCADA/DCS) and work with customers to architect and maintain AVEVA PI System infrastructures for real-time data acquisition, visualization, and analytics. Youll work closely with clients across various industries to deliver scalable, automation solutions that bridge OT and IT environments, enabling smarter operations and process optimization. Automation Duties/Responsibilities: • Design, implement, and troubleshoot industrial control systems., • Interpret and develop a controls system via customer provided P&IDs (Piping & Instrumental Diagrams)., • Program and troubleshoot PLC, HMI & DCS applications for automated process equipment., • Perform routine maintenance, including software updates and patches., • Write, test, debug code that controls and monitors automated processes., • Model, test, and measure output and data to analyze performance or quality issues and develop solutions., • Prepare specification documentation for operation and quality assurance., • Collaborate with and receive direction from assigned CDM (Customer Delivery Manager) and with on-site customer employees and vendors., • Perform other duties as required. Systems Engineer Duties/Responsibilities: • Design, build and maintain scalable data systems and pipelines to collect, store and process data for analysis and reporting., • Install, configure, and administer industrial data historian servers, interfaces, and visualizations., • Create and maintain historian data points, calculations, and administrative settings., • Creates custom data visualization displays and reports., • Implement value-added use cases for customers., • Integrate machine learning models into use cases, such as predictive equipment maintenance., • Design system software to meet project requirements and collaborate with customers, vendors, and internal staff as needed., • Develop and lead software system testing and validation procedures; compile relevant documentation., • Provide training for users on new or modified systems and networks. Required Skills/Abilities: • A deep understanding of control systems, PLC programming, HMI design, SCADA and other automation technologies., • The ability to analyze complex issues in control systems, formulate effective solutions, and make informed decisions., • Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with multidisciplinary teams to ensure a seamless integration of control systems., • Prior experience with start-ups and commissioning., • The ability to adapt to emerging technologies and stay updated on industry trends in industrial automation., • Awareness of safety and regulatory standards in the industrial sector to ensure control systems comply with established guidelines., • Fluent in reading and comprehending P&IDs, wire schematics and computer-aided design (CAD) drawings., • Proficient in programming languages and logic associated with Rockwell Automation, Siemens, Honeywell, Emerson (GE), etc., • Basic understanding of industrial data historians, such as AVEVA PI., • Working knowledge of Industrial networking topology, protocols and infrastructure., • Ability to facilitate interactive design and functional specification sessions., • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail., • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines., • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills., • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment., • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Education and Experience: • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Process Engineering, or related field, two to four years related experience or combination of experience and equivalent education., • Certified Automation Professional (CAP) or ISA Certified Control System Technician (CCST) preferred., • Observe and analyze current methods and processes and recommend opportunities for improvement that would simplify, standardize, improve quality, and/or reduce cost., • Experience with virtualization and containerization (e.g., VMware, Virtual Box)., • ABB DCS experience preferred., • Must possess or have the means to apply for a Transportation Security Administration card (TWIC) within the first 30 days of employment., • Must possess a valid drivers license, reliable transportation, valid liability insurance and a clean driving record., • Must be fluent in English, both verbal and written. Environment Requirements: • Industrial automation work will typically be on-site; industrial data work will typically be virtual., • Work performed onsite at customer locations is in an industrial or manufacturing setting., • Virtual work is to be performed in a private, home office setting, free from safety hazards and distractions., • Home internet speeds of a minimum of 25MB down/3MB up. 50MB down/5MB up preferred., • Applicants must reside within 60 miles from New Orleans, LA., • Familiar and comfortable with field work that is onsite at customer locations., • Comply with applicable PPE and manufacturing safety protocol required during customer visits. Physical Requirements: • Ability to travel up to 25%, including day trips and overnight stays for several days., • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and maintain a valid drivers license., • Ability to travel nationally and stay overnight for several days on a quarterly basis., • Ability to work as needed after-hours, during weekends, and during holidays., • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds regularly., • Must be able to bend, stoop, crawl, walk, push, pull and lift up to 20 pounds for an extended period of time., • May be required to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds assisted., • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer., • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
