There are two distinct waiting areas, one for pediatric patients and their families, and the other for all other visitors. There are 7 negative flow rooms, one of which is also an isolation room. Clinical and clerical workstations, nutrition areas, and supply and pharmaceutical dispensing machines are centrally located in each zone. A dedicated radiology suite, including 2 CTs, a DECONTAMINATION suite with a separate entrance, as well as a satellite lab are also located within the Emergency Department. In 2017, it is anticipated that Albany Medical Center will open a Level II Pediatric Emergency Department with 15 exam/treatment areas, 2 trauma resuscitation rooms, and a pediatric observation unit. Each ambulatory patient is initially evaluated at the triage. Patients arriving via EMS are directed to the appropriate patient care room by the flow facilitator during peak hours. Acute psychiatric services are referred to the Psychiatric Crisis Unit at the Capital District Psychiatric Center. Much more online at: POSITION SUMMARY RN/Nursing Educator serves as a clinical and professional development expert responsible for advancing nursing practice, supporting clinical competency, and promoting a culture of continuous performance improvement across the organization. This role partners closely with the Director of Clinical Education to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care through target education, competency validation, performance analysis, and individualized staff development. The RN/Nursing Educator provides hands-on clinical mentorship and preceptorship to nursing staff following initial orientation, reinforces evidence-based practice standards, and utilizes performance improvement data to identify gaps in practice and implement focused re-education and development strategies. This role serves as a key resource supporting nursing excellence, clinical accountability, and organizational quality initiatives. Education: Current New Jersey Registered Professional Nurse (RN) license. Graduate of an NLN-accredited nursing program required. BSN preferred; candidates currently enrolled in a BSN program will be considered. Experience: Minimum of three years of hospital-based nursing. Minimum of two years' experience in psychiatric nursing required. Past experience should include supervision of staff. Additional Requirements: ANCC certification in the field of mental health and psychiatric nursing preferred. Current CPR certification mandatory.
