Job Description Position Summary: The Friendly Visiting Coordinator is responsible for developing and maintaining strong, supportive relationships between homebound older adults and dedicated volunteers. Serving Upper Manhattan and Roosevelt Island, the Coordinator ensures client needs are met with compassion, professionalism, and consistency—always upholding Carter Burden Network’s mission to combat social isolation and build community for aging New Yorkers. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Client Services & Relationship Building • Receive referrals from agency Case Managers and conduct comprehensive telephone or in-home assessments to determine client eligibility., • Collect detailed information about clients’ interests, hobbies, and preferences to guide volunteer matching., • Match clients and volunteers based on compatibility, shared interests, language, and geography., • Maintain a visiting schedule for all matches and ensure service continuity through regular check-ins with both clients and volunteers., • Attend the first visit for each new match to facilitate introductions and set clear expectations., • Reassess clients’ needs on an ongoing basis in collaboration with Case Managers and volunteer feedback., • Conduct quarterly follow-up calls with each client to evaluate service satisfaction and identify any new or emerging needs., • Recruit, screen, and onboard new volunteers in accordance with program standards and CBN’s mission., • Provide training to volunteers that reinforces CBN’s values of community, respect, and responsibility., • Supervise and support active volunteers through ongoing communication, quarterly meetings, and one-on-one check-ins as needed., • Maintain complete and timely case records in Peer Place and CERVIS, including intakes, case notes, visit logs, and reassessments., • Submit monthly reports to the NYC Department for the Aging, including Zero Unit Reports, Unit Justification Reports, and Volunteer Reports., • Ensure program compliance with all applicable NYC Aging regulations and agency deadlines., • Conduct outreach to increase awareness of Friendly Visiting services and recruit high-quality, mission-aligned volunteers., • Collaborate with the second Friendly Visiting Coordinator and the broader Case Management team to ensure consistent service delivery., • Maintain strong, respectful communication with clients, families, community partners, and CBN staff across departments., • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, or a related field; equivalent direct industry experience will be considered., • At least 1 year of experience working with older adults, social service coordination, or volunteer management., • Demonstrated alignment with Carter Burden Network’s mission and core values., • Experience with client assessments and service planning a strong plus., • Strong written and verbal communication skills, • Ability to work pro-actively, both independently and collaboratively All CBN staff are expected to embody the organization’s five core values in their daily work: • Responsibility: Maintain the highest standards of integrity and accountability., • Boldness: Be proactive, creative, and compassionate in tackling the challenges of aging., • Heart: Approach every task with purpose and care, building genuine connections., • Respect: Honor the dignity and worth of all individuals. Provides supervision, coaching, and ongoing support to a team of volunteers engaged in Friendly Visiting activities. This position does not have direct supervisory responsibility for other employees. However, the Friendly Visiting Coordinator must work collaboratively with fellow members of the Case Management Unit (CMU) and across Carter Burden Network’s departments. The role requires coordinating volunteer supervision and client support within a team-oriented service model. Position Type, Work Schedule This is a non-exempt role with a flexible weekly schedule ranging from 17.5 to 35 hours, determined based on the needs of the Friendly Visiting Program. While you’ll typically work between 9:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., Monday through Sunday, your exact schedule will be set in consultation with your supervisor to best align with client and volunteer needs. This hybrid position combines remote work—where you’ll remain accessible by phone and email during scheduled hours—with in-person responsibilities. You must be available to come on-site to one of our six locations or attend field visits as program demands require. For safety and security when working remotely, employees are asked to maintain a private and secure workspace: lock doors, secure devices, and avoid public Wi-Fi. Company equipment should be password-protected, encrypted, and used separately from personal devices. Employees will receive guidance and training to ensure a secure home work environment and protect organizational information Fieldwork and in-person work occur throughout Upper Manhattan and Roosevelt Island, traveling via public transit or personal vehicle. Compensation & Benefits The Coordinator role offers a competitive hourly rate ranging from $30.00 to $32.97 per hour, which equates to an annualized salary range of approximately $54,600 to $60,000, based on a standard full-time schedule. This compensation structure aligns with the NYC Pay Transparency Act, with final placement based on experience, skills, and internal equity.
