WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IN THIS ROLE The Truck Driver/Service Technician Mechanic is primarily responsible for safely transporting agricultural equipment, machinery, and supplies between company locations throughout California using commercial vehicles, including semi-trucks and equipment trailers. Under the direction of the Lead and Assistant Manager, this position conducts required vehicle and equipment inspections, maintains accurate driving records, and ensures compliance with company safety policies, Department of Transportation regulations, and operating standards. As needed, the role also assists with minor preventive maintenance and basic repairs to support daily farming operations. The ideal candidate will have safe commercial driving experience, sound judgment, basic mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work independently in shop and field environments. • Assist the Area Lead Person with the maintenance and repair of company agricultural and related equipment as required., • Provide routine updates and maintain communication with the trucking dispatcher throughout the workday., • Transport agricultural equipment and supplies to various locations throughout California., • Maintain accurate driver logs in compliance with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations., • Support and maintain the company's Total Process Reliability (TPR) program., • Identify, report, and document unsafe conditions promptly., • Monitor equipment performance and assist with routine preventive maintenance., • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections, reporting and documenting any vehicle or equipment defects., • Travel to various job sites throughout California, including occasional overnight stays., • Perform light mechanical work in the shop as workload permits., • Demonstrate integrity and adhere to company policies, procedures, and business ethics standards., • Follow all company and departmental rules, policies, and safety procedures., • Work collaboratively with supervisors, managers, and team members to achieve departmental and project objectives., • Maintain clean, organized, and safe shop areas and job sites., • Promote a positive work environment through teamwork, cooperation, and productivity., • Inspect ,maintain, and properly use a variety of tools and equipment to ensure safe operation., • Maintain a safe work environment by following established shop and job site safety practices., • Care for and maintain assigned tools and equipment., • Immediately report defective tools or equipment to the Lead Person or Management., • Safely load and unload equipment for transport., • Operate pilot vehicles to escort oversized agricultural equipment, including carrot harvesters, during relocations., • Operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and other equipment necessary to perform assigned tasks while following all safety guidelines., • Perform routine maintenance on agricultural machinery and related equipment., • Test and evaluate the operation and performance of agricultural equipment., • Repair, replace, adjust, and align mechanical components as needed., • Clean, lubricate, and maintain machinery, equipment, and related components., • Inspect parts and components for wear, damage, or defects., • Perform other duties as assigned. WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR Required Skills and Abilities: • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and effectively as part of a team., • Current HAZMAT endorsement or ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire., • Knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) rules and regulations., • Basic knowledge of MIG/ARC welding, cutting, and fabrication techniques., • Basic troubleshooting skills related to hydraulic and electrical systems., • Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions., • Ability to safely operate, load, secure, and transport heavy equipment., • Ability to safely and efficiently operate company hauling equipment to maximize performance and productivity., • Strong commitment to safe work practices, equipment care, and quality workmanship., • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and travel overnight as business needs require. Minimum Qualifications: • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience, • Candidates must have a verifiable history of safe vehicle operation and meet company standards for driving eligibility. This includes maintaining a clean driving record, which will be verified through a background check., • Valid California Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL) with Doubles Endorsement required. Preferred Qualifications: • Completion of technical school or related vocational training is preferred., • Ability to speak, read, and write English sufficiently to communicate effectively and accurately complete required DOT documentation., • Previous Total Process Reliability (TPR) maintenance experience preferred. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: • Environmental exposure includes cold/wet conditions of 50°ree; Fahrenheit or below and hot conditions up to 100°ree; Fahrenheit. Work may be performed inside the building and across all facilities, both indoors and outdoors., • Ability to bend, stretch, twist or reach with body, arms and/or legs., • Ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble every small objects., • Ability to ascend and descend ramps, steps, ladders, stairs using three-point contact, • Occasional exposure to environmental factors such as fumes, gases, air borne particle sand vibrations, • Ability to lift, push, pull, and/or carry up to 50 pounds., • Able to walk and stand for prolonged periods of time., • Able to work on ladders, stairs and boom lifts. HOURS & WORKDAYS: Shift 1– 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM; Overtime, Weekends, and Holidays may be mandatory based on business needs. Rotating workday/time off schedules may be mandatory depending on department/business needs as well.
