Job Description Job Title: Maintenance Technician Location: Rancho Cordova, CA Pay: $35/HR Shift: Day / Swing / Night Job Description The Maintenance Technician II supports the operations maintenance team by installing, maintaining, and repairing material handling equipment, pneumatic systems, and automated packaging and distribution equipment within a large fulfillment facility. This role combines hands-on technical work with the opportunity to mentor junior technicians, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all material handling systems. Responsibilities • Promote a safe working environment by consistently following all safety procedures and guidelines., • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance routines on material handling and automated equipment, ensuring all work is properly documented., • Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical issues related to material handling equipment, including belts, motors, photo-eyes, relays, and similar components., • Install, maintain, and repair automated packaging and distribution systems to minimize downtime and support operational efficiency., • Conduct predictive maintenance procedures to identify potential failures and address them proactively., • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying recurring issues and recommending long-term solutions., • Maintain positive working relationships with colleagues across the operations facility to support smooth coordination of maintenance activities., • Track, organize, and store department inventory, ensuring tools, parts, and supplies are available and accounted for., • Read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics to diagnose and resolve equipment problems., • Use a multimeter and other diagnostic tools to test electrical and electronic components safely and accurately., • Perform metal and wood fabrication tasks as needed to support repairs, modifications, and equipment installations., • Work with hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including troubleshooting and repairing related components., • Assist with robotic operations and maintenance when applicable, including basic input and output function troubleshooting., • Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to receive work orders, record work performed, and maintain accurate maintenance records., • High school diploma or equivalent., • At least 2 years of experience working with automated conveyor systems and controls., • At least 2 years of experience repairing material handling equipment., • At least 2 years of experience performing predictive and preventative maintenance procedures., • At least 1 year of experience with metal and wood fabrication., • At least 1 year of experience reading blueprints and electrical schematics., • At least 1 year of knowledge and practical application of electrical and electronic principles., • Ability to use a multimeter confidently and safely for troubleshooting., • Hands-on maintenance technician experience in an industrial or similar environment., • Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills for conveyance equipment and conveyors., • Experience working with motors, hydraulics, pneumatics, and related components., • Ability to support continuous improvement efforts in maintenance and repair processes., • Associate degree or higher from a vocational school or college with a focus in the mechanical or electrical field., • 2 or more years of apprenticeship or equivalent experience in the mechanical or electrical field., • Experience applying material handling equipment safety standards in accordance with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) requirements and safety standards., • Project management experience, including planning and coordinating maintenance or installation work., • Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for work order and maintenance tracking., • Experience with robotic operation and maintenance in an industrial environment., • Ability to troubleshoot basic input and output functions on automated and robotic systems., • Strong communication skills to effectively mentor junior technicians and collaborate with operations teams. Work Environment This role is based in a large, modern fulfillment facility that operates advanced material handling, conveyor, pneumatic, and automated packaging and distribution systems. You will work around industrial equipment, motors, hydraulics, pneumatics, and robotic systems, frequently moving between departments, floors, and areas of the property, often walking 6 to 12 miles per day. The position requires the ability to reach above the head, kneel, squat, climb steps and ladders, crouch, and bend at the waist and spine to install or move equipment, and to frequently lift up to 50 pounds of equipment. You will perform tasks while wearing appropriate personal protective equipment such as a mask, face shield, and composite-toed boots, and you may work in areas with fluctuating temperatures. The role also includes periods of computer work at a standard or stand-up desk, typically 1–2 hours per day, for tasks such as updating the CMMS and documenting maintenance activities.
