POSITION OVERVIEW We are seeking an experienced Regulatory Compliance Specialist who will be responsible for internal and external compliance initiatives for Chariot Energy and its affiliates. The Regulatory Compliance Specialist is responsible for contractual compliance as well as gathering, analyzing and coordinating company data for preparation and compilation of reports and filings to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), the PJM Interconnection, LLC, and various state utilities regulators. The ideal candidate will have the ability to translate and communicate obscure regulatory compliance requirements to internal, cross-discipline groups and work in a team environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in deregulated retail electricity markets and be responsible for regulatory compliance/technical decisions and possess excellent knowledge in functional discipline and its practical application. You'll be at the forefront of regulatory compliance oversight and risk mitigation in dynamic U.S. energy markets and support projects, deliverables, and market activities associated with the compliance of relevant rules, regulations, and tariffs. You'll collaborate across departments to uphold regulatory standards, support market expansion, and contribute to the buildout of our compliance framework and have detailed knowledge of applicable industry codes and regulations. This role will work from our office in Houston Texas, reporting to our Legal Counsel for Retail Operations. This is an onsite required role. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Regulatory Compliance Expertise & Guidance • Provide subject matter expertise on federal, state, and ISO/RTO regulatory compliance requirements, including rules, tariffs, business practice manuals, and operating procedures established for and by FERC, ERCOT, PJM, and state utilities regulators., • Interpret new or revised regulations, identify potential impacts on the company, and develop strategies or processes to ensure compliance., • Act as a liaison with regulatory agencies, utilities, and project partners, support filings, responses, and ongoing communications. Compliance Program Development & Implementation • Develop, maintain, and implement compliance programs, policies, procedures, and internal controls to meet legal, regulatory compliance and contractual obligations., • Support compliance readiness for new projects, market participation, and business development initiatives., • Provide training, tools, and guidance to internal teams to strengthen regulatory awareness and compliance adherence. Monitoring & Reporting • Monitor regulatory communications, market activities, scheduling, and operations to ensure alignment with applicable rules and standards., • Track, manage, and maintain regulatory compliance requirements, submissions, and approvals, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness., • Prepare and submit compliance-related deliverables (e.g., RFIs, filings, certificates, permits, EQRs, and agency reports). Research, Analysis & Risk Management • Conduct independent research, analyses, and reviews on regulatory and technical issues to support compliance decision-making., • Perform risk assessments, monitor compliance performance, and recommend improvements to mitigate regulatory exposure., • Provide input into legal pleadings, rate case positions, and company responses to regulatory bodies. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Continuous Improvement • Partner with commercial, legal, operations, and business development teams to evaluate compliance implications of new services, projects, or market opportunities., • Identify process efficiencies, compliance program enhancements, and cost-effective solutions to reduce regulatory compliance burden while maintaining adherence., • Support enterprise-wide compliance tracking platforms, reporting processes, and performance metrics (KPIs). REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5+ years of regulatory compliance experience in the energy sector (FERC, ISO/RTO, or related markets)., • Regulatory knowledge with strong understanding of processes and requirements, retail energy operations, and regulatory compliance standards; experience interpreting tariffs, contracts, and market rules across FERC, ERCOT, PJM, and state utilities regulators., • Proficiency with MS Office Suite. Familiarity with federal/state regulatory compliance reporting platforms and troubleshooting submission errors., • Strong analytical and problem solving skills., • Demonstrated ability to perform complex regulatory analyses, identify compliance risks, and recommend practical solutions., • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present to leadership and collaborate effectively across multiple stakeholders., • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment while meeting critical deadlines., • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight while driving tasks to completion., • Eligible to work in the U.S. for any employer without current or future sponsorship.
