Job Description Liverpool Animal Health Center is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our team. We are a busy 5 doctor practice that sees dogs, cats, pocket pets, exotics, and wildlife. Our practice is open Monday – Friday 7:30 am to 6:00 pm and Saturdays 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. That means no overnight shifts or on-call hours! We also close our hospital for a lunch hour every weekday to ensure that staff get a true break midday to rest and recharge. We feel strongly in a good work life balance to mitigate burnout and create a positive work environment. What Should You Bring to the Table? Veterinary Technician license or license eligible. LVT technical skills, including but not limited to knowledge of common diseases, vaccine and injectable administration, venipuncture and IV catheter placement, surgery prep and recovery, anesthesia monitoring, etc. Excellent communication skills, both with clients and team members The desire to learn and grow! Starting pay rate is typically $22-$25/hr commensurate upon experience. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES • Performs all duties in accordance with government regulations and hospital policies and procedures., • Prepares and maintains the exam rooms and treatment areas., • Assists the doctor in medical, surgical and dental procedures; prepares patients for surgery; assists the doctor in administering anesthetics; monitors patients during surgery and recovery; administers fluids., • Gives injections and administers oral medications., • Performs emergency procedures such as control of bleeding, resuscitation with oxygen, and external cardiac massage., • Assists in restraining pets when necessary., • Performs clinical laboratory procedures such as fecal flotation exams, heartworm checks, skin scrapings, urinalysis, and fungal cultures; draws blood for laboratory analysis; maintains file of lab test results and ensures that test results are recorded in patient records., • Takes radiographs and performs EKGs., • Admits and discharges patients on the doctor's orders. Counsels clients on various aspects of animal care; explains dosage/purpose of medications; reinforces the proper care and procedures that should be followed at home; makes follow-up calls to clients., • Understands usage and dosage for commonly used prescription drugs including heartworm preventative and prescription flea control products and can readily explain them to clients., • Properly cleans all surgical materials after they are used; keeps the operating room stocked and prepared for surgery., • Maintains an appropriate inventory of all drugs and medical supplies., • Assists other staff members as required., • Performs other duties as determined by the doctors., • Prepares estimates for clients PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE • High school diploma or equivalent, • Previous veterinary practice experience is preferred CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Veterinary Technician licensure or ability to obtain within one (1) year from date of hire COMPETENCIES • Compassion and Empathy, • Technical Capacity., • Ability to carry out verbal and written directions, • Strong communication skills, • Ability to stay calm and efficient during times of high tension, • Collaboration and teamwork COMPUTER SKILLS To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of; MS Excel Spreadsheet software and MS Word; MS PowerPoint Word Processing software. Job DescriptionDescription: The Direct Support Professional – Community Habilitation/Respite is responsible to implement and monitor individualized habilitation plans, in compliance with state, federal and Agency regulations and operating standards. The DSP works directly with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) providing habilitative (skill building) and behavioral support. The DSP will work to increase skill level and decrease challenging behaviors of individuals with autism by addressing goals outlined in their individual goal plan. The DSP will provide services within the person’s home and in their community in order to promote independence, inclusion and quality of life. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Activities include but are not limited to the following: • Implement, document, and/or summarize programming as indicated in the individuals Person Centered Plan., • Respond to medical emergencies and log any/all incidents that may occur during sleeping hours., • Attend to personal, self-care and other program needs that the individuals cannot independently accomplish., • Oversee the safety and well-being of the individuals., • Advise nursing staff regarding the individuals’ medical and dietary concerns, dispense medication, if certified., • Participate in activities as part of the treatment team that may include meetings, trainings and committees., • Transport and accompany residences as requires for appointments and community activities., • Assist in the daily housekeeping and laundry routine, report house damage and complete work orders; clean wheelchairs, clean and gas-up vans, as needed., • Maintain documentation as required., • Ensure that all doors have been locked during overnight hours;, • Ensure an appropriate temperature in the house for sleeping by adjusting the thermostat and/or closing windows., • Conduct evacuation drills as assigned and complete documentation required., • Establish a work environment that creates positive communication between supervisors and employees and assimilates new employees to the Center’s culture, values and mission., • Ability to lift and/or assist individuals in your care and the ability to meet the physical requirements of the specific job., • Ability to walk, bend, squat., • Climb and descend stairs., • Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
