Guided by Senior Management, FAC has a team that is equipped to provide efficient budget and timeline solutions for contracts ranging upward of $20 million dollars in size. FAC is a member of the Asphalt Contractors Association of Florida. The Asphalt Lute Operator performs skilled hand-work operations on fresh asphalt mats. This role ensures surface quality by spreading, smoothing, and finishing asphalt joints and irregularities before compaction. Key Responsibilities • Use an asphalt lute and rake to smooth and massage freshly laid asphalt, achieving proper grade and finish prior to rolling., • Match paving joints and correct surface imperfections such as high or low spots to promote even compaction., • Work closely with the screed operator to maintain grade, edge detail, and mat consistency., • Shovel and distribute asphalt to address low areas and support fine grading as necessary., • Keep tools clean—spray blades with release agents, scrape buildup, and maintain a tidy work area., • 3 to 12 months up to a few years of asphalt luting/raking experience preferred., • Ability to identify surface high and low spots visually and respond appropriately., • Strong technique: light, controlled lute strokes; avoid overworking the mat., • Must be physically durable: able to lift 50–75 lb regularly, bend, crouch, stoop, stand long hours in all weather conditions., • Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred for versatile crew coverage., • Excellent work ethic, ability to follow instructions, safety-minded, punctual, and reliable FAC provides Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to Race, Color, Religion, Gender, National Origin, Age, Disability, Veteran Status, Genetic Information & Testing, Family & Medical Leave, or any other protected class in accordance with applicable Federal Laws.
