Job Description Job Title: Thrift Store Manager Team: Enterprise Programming Classification: Full-Time, Exempt Reports To: Director of Operations Direct Reports: Thrift Store Staff Effective Date: October 2023 Position Summary The Thrift Store Manager is responsible for providing management, leadership, and oversight of the daily operations of the Thrift Store. Position Qualifications For Employment with Oliver Gospel A born-again believer in Jesus Christ Affirm without reservation Oliver Gospel’s Statement of Faith Fully support Oliver Gospel’s Mission and Vision Statements Ability and desire to work in harmony with other Oliver Gospel employees Due to sensitivity for potential impact upon Oliver Gospel’s Program Participants, the use of tobacco and/or vaping products is not permitted during scheduled work hours or at any Oliver Gospel event Valid South Carolina driver’s license For the Thrift Store Manager High School diploma Retail sales experience; store management experience a plus Excellent customer service skills Ability to supervise and lead a team Ability to interact well with individuals facing homelessness, addiction, or hardship Ability to engage the giving community to establish and sustain meaningful partnerships Ability to work independently while staying aligned with the priorities of the supervisor Working knowledge of PC-based software and office and retail equipment Position Responsibilities • Lead and equip the team to reveal Christ in every aspect of their job, to each other, donors, customers, and volunteers., • To perform any of the required job duties within the processing team. This includes all requirements related to accepting donations, presorting, and pricing merchandise., • Adhere to and implement all donor service standards, policies, and procedures., • Lead and equip team in the retail operations of the store, including the handling of cash and credit card payments, refunds, and all functions of the POS system to ensure the accuracy and security of all transactions., • Complete, with accuracy, all financial reporting and bank deposits, to ensure truthful reporting and recording of daily sales and donations., • Responsible for hiring and termination of all Thrift Store staff., • Collaborate with Enterprise Training & Development Specialist to train employees and promote optimum staff performances., • Must approve timecards by 10:00 AM on Payroll Mondays., • Work with store staff, to maintain the physical appearance of the store, including, but not limited to ordering and maintaining needed janitorial and restroom supplies, removing safety hazards, picking up store merchandise and restoring to proper place, cleaning parking lot, sidewalks, windows and doors, store floors, restrooms and other public areas, to ensure the safety and health of customers and employees., • Ensure proper branding protocol is in place throughout retail floor., • Lead and train store staff in stocking store shelves and clothing racks to provide customers with maximum shopping opportunities., • Manage the continual set up and change of store displays in order to provide a pleasant shopping environment and to entice customers to shop new areas or items within the store., • Communicate all events related to customer service issues or problems, employee issues or accidents, and general store operations to the Director of Operations., • Ensure that daily reports are properly filled out in a timely manner., • Must be able to appropriately set daily goals and plan their day according to projections/targets., • Review Production Dashboard daily to understand and communicate targets to the team., • Schedule staff appropriately to ensure the team is well equipped for high volume days., • Maintain clean and well-organized reception, presort, and processing areas., • Train processing staff and volunteers to maintain a clean and well-organized reception, presort, and processing areas., • Provide a positive and encouraging atmosphere for staff to promote further professional development and growth within Oliver Gospel Thrift., • Facilitate and promote an encouraging, positive, and unified relationship between Processing and Retail Departments., • Work with and effectively communicate with the Retail Manager daily to ensure all the operational needs of the store are being met., • Communicate efficiently and clearly with the Director of Operations on daily needs and progress of the Processing & Retail teams., • Recognize the value and appropriate pricing needs of items prior to those items reaching the sales floor., • Train and hold staff accountable for recognizing the value and appropriate pricing needs of items prior to those items reaching the sales floor., • Able to tell the Oliver Gospel Thrift story and continually connects the dots for staff and customers., • Perform other duties as assigned.
