Job Description ENGLEWOOD ORTHOPEDIC ASSOCIATES JOB DESCRIPTION Department: Physician Assistant Title: Orthopedic Physician Assistant- Full Time Supervision Received: Practice Administrator/Collaborating Physician Position Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Orthopedic Physician Assistant (PA) to join our surgical and clinical team. The PA will play an integral role in both the operating room and outpatient clinic, working in collaboration with our orthopedic surgeons across all subspecialties, including sports medicine, spine, hand, foot and ankle, trauma, and joint replacement. The ideal candidate is a motivated provider with strong surgical skills and the ability to independently evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients in a clinic setting. Responsibilities: • Serve as first assistant in the operating room, performing tasks such as retraction, suturing, implant preparation, graft handling, reduction and fixation, and other surgical duties as directed by the attending surgeon., • Conduct clinic evaluations, including histories, physical examinations, ordering and interpreting imaging/labs, diagnosing orthopedic conditions, and developing treatment plans., • Provide nonsurgical management of orthopedic conditions, including joint injections, splinting/casting, bracing, and patient education., • Participate in preoperative and postoperative care, including patient workup, surgical planning, wound care, and discharge instructions., • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, therapists, and other providers to optimize patient care., • Document all patient encounters, operative assistance, and treatment plans in the electronic medical record., • Share in departmental coverage, including two weekday call shifts per month and one weekend of call per month, providing first-line support for urgent orthopedic issues., • Maintain current knowledge of orthopedic best practices and participate in continuing medical education. Qualifications: • Current Physician Assistant license in New Jersey, • Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)., • Current DEA license, • Current CDS, • BLS and ACLS certifications required., • Orthopedic surgery experience strongly preferred; new graduates with significant orthopedic rotations may be considered., • Excellent technical skills in the OR, with the ability to anticipate surgical needs., • Strong diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills in orthopedics. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced surgical and outpatient environment Schedule & Compensation: • Full-time position with combined OR and clinic responsibilities., • Call requirement: 2 weekday calls per month + 1 weekend call per month., • Competitive salary and benefits package, commensurate with experience.
