Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: CVICU, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 06/01/2026, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, nights, • Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview • Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs, • Hours: 36 hrs/wk, • Start Date: Jun 1, 2026, • Length: 13 weeks, • Work in an 8-bed Cardiac Care Unit (CCU/CVICU) at an urban community hospital with 304 licensed beds, teaching status (interns, residents, APPs, and nursing students), ACC Chest Pain Center accreditation, and TJC Primary Stroke Center designation, • Patient population includes complex cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgical cases such as post-open heart surgery, MI, cardiac interventional procedures, Impella/IABP support, CRRT, targeted temperature management (TTM), severe sepsis, respiratory failure, renal failure, DKA/HHNK, and neuro-medical cases including stroke and EVD/ICP management, • Standard nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2 for ICU-level care, with 1:1 ratios for high-acuity patients (immediate post-open heart, Impella/IABP, CRRT, organ procurement); overflow stepdown patients may result in a 1:3 or 1:4 ratio, • CNA and Nurse Tech support available on the unit, • 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, 36 hours per week, • Every other weekend rotation required, • No on-call requirements, • Floating may be required within the critical care division or Intermediate Care, • EMR: Epic (experience noted), • Equipment includes Baxter IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Philips Intellivue monitors, NxStage CRRT, Edwards Lifesciences Hemosphere/FloTrac for advanced hemodynamics, and Arctic Sun for targeted temperature management (TTM)Requirements, • Active NC RN license or compact RN license currently in hand, • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required, • Minimum 1 year of ICU experience required, with most recent experience within the last year, • Proficiency in cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring, cardiac rhythm interpretation, arterial lines, drip titration, ventilator care, vascular lines, chest tubes/drains, post-procedure site care (trans-radial bands, femoral sheaths), CRRT, immediate post-open heart care, Impella/IABP management, advanced hemodynamics including Swan-Ganz, temporary pacemaker management, and post-pulmonary artery thrombectomy care (EKOS, Penumbra, Inari), • Minimum 1 professional reference from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN, dated within the past year, required for consideration, • Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration, • Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this positionAdditional Information, • RN is responsible for continuous cardiac monitoring and rhythm interpretation independently, • Support team includes charge nurse (who also serves as resource nurse), CNAs, Nurse Techs, Rapid Response Team, Respiratory Therapy (24/7), Hospitalist (24/7), and Intensivist (24/7), • Orientation includes Week 1 for NTO, Epic training, and online CBL (Healthstream), followed by a 12-hour department-specific orientation shift with an RN preceptor, • Schedules are arranged on a 6-week cycle; RTO requires Resource Team approval, • Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays, • Scrub color: Royal Blue, • Free parking is available on site, • Former employees of any Advocate Health Southeast (AHSE) facility who held a permanent position must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
