The ideal candidate will bring 3-5+ years of CFD analysis experience using Cadence software, along with a strong understanding of data center cooling systems, airflow analysis, and thermal optimization. This role offers the opportunity to work on both interior white space and exterior infrastructure modeling, directly contributing to improved cooling performance, energy efficiency, and overall environmental behavior of data center facilities. Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. 3 - 5+ years of Mechanical Systems Design experience for Data Center or Healthcare Projects. Experience in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Modeling for Data Center Systems. Experience using CFD tools, preferably Cadence. Experience with Data Center cooling technologies including IT equipment, emergency generators, air-cooled/water cooled chillers, cooling distribution units, cooling towers, adiabatic coolers, CRAH/CRAC units, liquid cooling systems, and containment solutions. Strong understanding of thermodynamics and fluid mechanics as applied to HVAC and Data Center systems. Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, equipment specifications, and facility layouts. Ability to manage multiple CFD modeling tasks with strong attention to detail and accuracy. Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical findings to non-technical stakeholders. Knowledge of industry standards relevant to Data Center design. Preferred, Not Required Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) License – Preferred, Not Required Experience supporting design optimization for high-density or mission-critical Data Center environments. Duties: Develop CFD Models (Air and Liquid) of Data Center white space and outdoor infrastructure. Simulate airflow, heat transfer, and pressure distributions to evaluate cooling performance, containment strategies, and equipment layouts. Analyze interior and exterior Data Center conditions to optimize airflow, thermal behavior, and environmental performance. Evaluate exterior environmental conditions including wind loading, heat island effects, and outdoor air intake behavior. Interpret simulation results to identify risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for design improvement. Collaborate closely with the Architectural/Electrical/Mechanical design teams to support Data Center system design decisions. Prepare technical reports and presentations summarizing modeling assumptions, methodologies, results, and design recommendations. Support design optimization for cooling systems, containment solutions, and equipment placement. Maintain and refine CFD simulation libraries, including equipment models, boundary conditions, and environmental templates. Responsibilities * Design and build realistic SaaS traffic simulations and network behavior scenarios * Develop repeatable traffic generation frameworks for demos, labs, and validation environments * Simulate network conditions such as latency, packet loss, jitter, and bandwidth constraints * Create and execute attack simulations aligned with frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK * Model intrusion techniques including lateral movement, command-and-control traffic, and data exfiltration * Build modular, programmatic attack simulation libraries * Integrate with SaaS platforms via APIs to provision tenants, configure policies, and retrieve telemetry * Deploy and manage cloud-based infrastructure (AWS/Azure) for traffic generation and simulations * Configure VPN connectivity and ensure secure communication between lab and SaaS environments * Build dashboards and monitoring systems to validate telemetry, detection accuracy, and data health * Implement alerting and perform root-cause analysis for data or pipeline failures Requirements * 10+ years of experience in networking or security engineering * 5+ years of experience in data, network, or security engineering * Strong programming skills in Python * Experience working with REST APIs and authentication workflows * Experience building or supporting penetration testing or security simulation workflows * Hands-on experience with Azure (AWS is a plus) * Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform * Experience generating network traffic using tools like Scapy, tcpreplay, or iperf * Strong knowledge of Linux environments and networking tools (tcpdump, curl, netstat, etc.) * PowerShell scripting experience for Windows automation and system provisioning * Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, TLS) * Experience configuring VPN clients and secure connectivity * Familiarity with MITRE ATT&CK or similar security frameworks Preferred Qualifications * Networking or security certifications (e.g., CCNA) * Experience building demo or enablement environments * Experience with GraphQL APIs * Familiarity with traffic shaping tools (tc, netem) * Experience with monitoring and observability platforms (Grafana, ELK, Prometheus) * Experience simulating adversary behaviors in controlled environments * Background in cybersecurity, SASE, or networking platforms Why This Role Matters This role ensures that Cato's platform is demonstrated and validated using realistic, high-fidelity data that mirrors real customer environments.
