Job Description Job Title: Housekeeper Job Description The housekeeper maintains a clean, safe, and orderly environment for patients and visitors in a hospital setting by performing light cleaning duties throughout assigned areas. This role focuses on cleaning patient rooms and common spaces, including making beds, replenishing linens, sanitizing surfaces, and vacuuming, while delivering attentive, one-on-one customer service. Full-time opportunities are available on 1st shift (8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday–Friday) and 2nd shift (3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m., Monday–Friday), with work scheduled every other weekend and flexible options for part-time arrangements. Responsibilities • Provide high-quality customer service by giving one-on-one attention to detail in each patient room and area cleaned., • Sweep, scrub, mop, and polish floors to maintain a clean and safe walking surface., • Vacuum carpets, rugs, and draperies to remove dust, dirt, and debris., • Shampoo carpets, rugs, and upholstery as needed to ensure a fresh and sanitary environment., • Dust and polish furniture, fixtures, and fittings to keep surfaces clean and presentable., • Clean and polish metal fixtures and fittings to maintain a neat and professional appearance., • Empty and clean trash containers in patient rooms and common areas., • Dispose of trash and waste materials in a sanitary and compliant manner., • Clean wash basins, mirrors, tubs, and glass surfaces to maintain hygiene and clarity., • Make beds and change linens as required, ensuring fresh bedding for each patient., • Realign furniture and amenities according to the prescribed room layout after cleaning., • Sanitize patient rooms thoroughly, including high-touch surfaces, in each cleaning cycle., • Perform sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and general cleaning tasks for 8–12 rooms per shift, with approximately 30 minutes allocated per room., • Respond promptly and courteously to guest and patient queries and requests related to housekeeping., • Respond to calls for housekeeping issues such as spills, broken glass, or other urgent cleaning needs., • Support team efforts and collaborate with fellow associates to maintain a clean and efficient work environment., • Exhibit professionalism and respect in interactions with patients, visitors, and coworkers., • Perform additional housekeeping, custodial, and environmental services duties as assigned by leadership. Essential Skills • Demonstrated experience in housekeeping, cleaning, janitorial, or custodial work in environments such as hospitals, hotels, restaurants, or similar facilities., • Ability to perform sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, scrubbing, and polishing tasks safely and efficiently., • Skill in sanitizing rooms, surfaces, and equipment to meet cleanliness and hygiene standards., • Ability to change bedding, make beds neatly, and handle linens in a sanitary manner., • Comfort with walking long distances within a large hospital facility throughout the shift., • Strong customer service skills, with the ability to interact courteously and professionally with patients, visitors, and staff., • Ability to manage time effectively, cleaning approximately 8–12 rooms per shift with about 30 minutes per room., • Capacity to respond quickly to spills, broken glass, and other urgent housekeeping needs., • Reliability in working required shifts and two weekends per month., • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience in hospital environmental services (EVS) or healthcare housekeeping is beneficial., • Floor care or floor technician duties, including polishing and shampooing, is an advantage., • Experience in food service or working around food areas within a healthcare environment is helpful., • Flexibility to work either 1st shift (8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday–Friday) or 2nd shift (3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m., Monday–Friday), as needed., • Willingness to work two weekends per month, with the option to work additional weekends for more weekday time off., • Openness to part-time scheduling, with the ability to adapt to flexible hours and workload. You will use standard housekeeping equipment such as vacuums, mops, brooms, floor polishers, and carpet shampooers, and follow hospital cleanliness and safety protocols. Shifts are structured as 1st shift (8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday–Friday) and 2nd shift (3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m., Monday–Friday), with work every other weekend and options for flexible, part-time schedules. Attire typically consists of practical, clean clothing suitable for a hospital environment and for performing physical cleaning tasks safely and comfortably Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wichita, KS. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $15.00 - $15.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
