Job Description Job Title: Avionics Technician Job Description This role focuses on phase maintenance, depot-level maintenance, and reset activities on military helicopter platforms such as CH-47, UH-60, SH-60, and other rotary and fixed-wing aircraft. You will perform avionics modifications and installations, as well as troubleshoot complex avionics systems. The position requires strong hands-on experience with routing, running, and terminating wires, along with the ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and perform high-quality avionics work in a structured, air-conditioned facility. Responsibilities • Perform phase maintenance and reset activities on CH-47, UH-60, SH-60, and other military helicopter platforms., • Carry out avionics modifications and installations in accordance with established procedures and technical data., • Troubleshoot avionics systems and components on both rotary-wing and fixed-wing aircraft to identify and resolve faults., • Route, run, and terminate wiring harnesses, ensuring proper installation, strain relief, and system integrity., • Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and related technical documentation to perform accurate installations and repairs., • Use crimping and pinning techniques to assemble and repair electrical connectors and harnesses., • Support depot-level maintenance activities, ensuring all avionics work meets quality and safety standards., • Participate in a basic hands-on avionics skills test on the first day to demonstrate practical capabilities., • Collaborate with other technicians and maintenance personnel to complete scheduled work efficiently and on time., • Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all facility procedures and safety guidelines. Essential Skills • At least 4 years of avionics experience in an aviation maintenance environment., • Hands-on experience with avionics installations and/or troubleshooting on military helicopters such as AH-64, CH-47, UH-60, SH-60, or comparable platforms., • Ability to perform avionics modifications, including installation and integration of avionics systems and wire harnesses., • Strong troubleshooting skills on avionics systems for both rotary-wing and fixed-wing aircraft., • Proficiency in reading and interpreting wiring diagrams and electrical schematics., • Crimp and pin experience for electrical connectors and harness assembly., • Demonstrated ability to route, run, and terminate wires accurately and neatly., • Capability to successfully complete a basic hands-on avionics test on the first day of work. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Any military helicopter avionics experience is highly valued, provided you can perform installations and troubleshooting independently., • Fixed-wing aircraft avionics experience is considered, especially with strong troubleshooting capabilities., • Background in depot-level maintenance or aviation maintenance environments is beneficial., • Experience working with avionics systems and wire harnesses in aviation settings., • Ability to provide a resume and any relevant military documentation (such as DD214, if applicable). Work Environment Work takes place in an air-conditioned maintenance facility designed for comfort and productivity. The standard schedule is a 5-day workweek on first shift, typically from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with overtime available as needed. Technicians are not required to provide their own tools, as necessary equipment is supplied by the facility. The environment is structured and professional, with a focus on safety, quality workmanship, and efficient maintenance operations. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Huntsville, AL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $40.00/hr.
