American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Phoenix, Arizona. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: Med Surg, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 12/01/2025, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, nights, • Work in a Neuro Acute Epilepsy Monitoring unit in an acute care hospital setting, • Unit specializes in neurological cases including epilepsy monitoring, brain tumors, subdural hematomas, scoliosis surgeries, traumatic brain injuries, and advanced neuro diagnoses, • 48-bed unit with 10 epilepsy specialty rooms; patient ratio 1:4 on both days and nights, • Mainly Med/Surg Telemetry; some telemetry required; use of Bipap with RT support, • In-house hospitalists/intensivists during days, with 24/7 RT and pharmacy services, • 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, with 3 weekend shifts every 4 weeks and inclusion in holiday rotation, • Cerner EMR is used in the unit, • May float to Med/Surg or Telemetry floors as needed, • Floor orientation consists of 2 shifts, plus 12 hours facility orientation, • Responsibilities include neurological assessment, monitoring, and care for patients with epilepsy, neurosurgical, and neurotrauma conditions, • Frequent sterile procedures required, including Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes; must pass a pass/fail skills lab in these areas on day one, • Use of self-releasing velcro seat belts for patient safety, not considered restraints, • Support available from charge nurses, resource RNs, and nurse aides (PCTs); SWAT RN available for challenging IVs, • Must adhere to dress code: Greys Anatomy/Steel scrubs, natural hair color, clean-shaven (for men), and no facial piercings, • 50-mile radius rule applies for eligibility; candidate’s permanent address is determined by driver’s license, • Must not have been previously employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by the associated health system within the past year, • Must pass all onboarding and orientation skills validations for continued assignment\n \n Requirements\n, • Active AZ or Compact RN license required at time of consideration—pending licenses not accepted, • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required, • Minimum 2 years recent acute care experience in a Level 1 Trauma facility, • Strong Med/Surg and Telemetry skills required; critical thinking and assessment skills essential, • Must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance; two attempts permitted, • BSN and Med/Surg/Tele certification preferred but not required, • Cerner EMR experience preferred, • Must provide a copy of a valid driver’s license for residence verification, • Must submit two recent professional references: one supervisor within the past 12 months, and one peer or supervisor from within the past 3 years\n Benefits\n, • High Pay and Bonuses, • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options, • 401(k) Plan, • Weekly Payroll Deposit, • Free Online CEUs, • Generous Housing Allowance, • Travel and Licensure Reimbursements, • Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
