American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN ICU - Intensive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Phoenix, Arizona. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: ICU - Intensive Care Unit, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 12/15/2025, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, nights, • Work in Adult ICU Pods within a 120-bed ICU department, including MICU, SICU, and TICU units, • Patient populations include sepsis, GI bleed, DKA, transplants, trauma, MVAs, GSWs, and complex post-op cases, • Responsibilities include care for vented patients, titration of critical drips, and frequent bedside procedures (bronchs, trachs, hemodialysis catheter placements), • RN required to read and interpret their own cardiac rhythm strips, • Utilizes Cerner EMR system, • 12-hour night shifts, with 3 weekend shifts every 4 weeks and holidays rotated with core staff, • Self-scheduling available, subject to rebalance by schedulers, • Floating required between all ICU areas, MedSurg/Tele units, and possibly to a sister campus, • Day one orientation includes a pass/fail simulation lab on sterile Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes, • Maintaining sterile field competency is critical; failure on skills or testing leads to immediate termination and a 6-month DNU status for specified regions, • Two shifts of unit/department-specific orientation provided, • All RNs are expected to maintain professional appearance: navy scrubs, natural hair color, no facial piercings, men must be clean shaven for fit testing, • Intensivist and RT support are available 24/7 within the ICU, • Some units may utilize sitters for extubated patients when needed, • Strict RTO policies; holidays assigned per department rotation, • Travelers must have personal transportation due to possible multi-campus floats\n \n Requirements\n, • Active AZ or compact RN license at the time of consideration, • Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required, • Minimum of 2 years recent ICU RN experience in a 600+ bed teaching facility, • Level 1 trauma experience required, • Ability and experience in reading/interpreting cardiac rhythm strips, • Proficiency with ventilators including Cervo I, Jets, and Oscillators, • Must pass a dysrhythmia exam before offer and SIMs Lab skills test on day one, • Copy of driver’s license required for consideration, • Must live at least 50 miles from the facility (verified by driver’s license), • Cannot have been employed by related health system (CommonSpirit, CHI, Dignity) in the past year, • Professional references required: one supervisor reference from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 years\n Benefits\n, • High Pay and Bonuses, • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options, • 401(k) Plan, • Weekly Payroll Deposit, • Free Online CEUs, • Generous Housing Allowance, • Travel and Licensure Reimbursements, • Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
