American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Omaha, Nebraska. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: Med Surg, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 12/15/2025, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, days, • Work in an acute care hospital setting on the Med/Surg Ortho Trauma unit, • Unit has 55 beds with a typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6, • Patient population includes joint replacements, fractures, colon resections, COPD exacerbation, prostatectomy, cellulitis, sepsis, orthopedic trauma, GI bleeds, pneumonia, and failure to thrive, • Uses Epic EMR, • Required to titrate drips such as heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine; PCA pumps commonly used, • Mechanical lifts available in every other room, • 12-hour day shifts, 0630-1900, • Required to work every other weekend and 2-3 holidays from Thanksgiving to New Year, • Floating to other Med/Surg areas may be required, • Unit has charge nurses each shift, nurse aides with ratios of 1:10-20, and tele techs for monitoring, • Main responsibilities include caring for diverse Med/Surg and orthopedic trauma patients, titrating specific drips, and managing admissions and discharges throughout the shift, • Artificial nails are prohibited for all patient care staff, • Required to wear navy blue scrubs, • Pass/Fail open-book exam on unit-specific skills during orientation with a 90% required to continue assignment, • Orientation consists of 2 days (12 hours in total), with a scheduled skills exam on Friday, • Must demonstrate strong teamwork, responsiveness, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment with high admission and discharge rates, • RTO (requested time off) must be provided up front and may not exceed 7 days per 13-week contract; additional RTO will not be considered\n \n Requirements\n, • Active NE or compact RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted, • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, • Current BLS (AHA) required; ACLS preferred, • Experience with Med/Surg and telemetry patient populations strongly preferred, • Epic charting system experience preferred, • Must submit a copy of a driver's license to verify residency outside 50 miles of the facility, • Candidates must not have held full time, part time, or PRN roles within CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facilities in the past year, • Two professional references required: one supervisor from the past 12 months and one supervisor or peer from the past 3 years\n Benefits\n, • High Pay and Bonuses, • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options, • 401(k) Plan, • Weekly Payroll Deposit, • Free Online CEUs, • Generous Housing Allowance, • Travel and Licensure Reimbursements, • Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
