6 Month Contract with Possibility of Conversion * Must Haves: • 5-10 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer within a Food/Beverage manufacturing environment, • Ability to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot food processing equipment (e.g., extruders, ovens, mixers, flow wrappers, cooling tunnels, pumps, valves, decorating equipment), • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to run trials and operate equipment in a pilot plant setting, • High School diploma, • Team-oriented, collaborative, and adaptable to varying tasks (equipment operations, quality checks, maintenance) Plusses: • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field, • Experience working with CLIF Bar products or similar snack/energy bar platforms, • Exposure to new product innovation in food manufacturing Summary: Insight Global is seeking a Pilot Plant Engineer for one of our leading food manufacturing clients located in Berkeley, CA. This role will be based in a 25,000 sq. ft. pilot plant facility that supports testing, trials, and manufacturing for CLIF Bar and other innovation platforms. The engineer will be responsible for operating and maintaining food manufacturing equipment, running trials, scaling ingredients, performing mechanical maintenance, and troubleshooting equipment. The specific equipment they’ll be working with includes extruders, ovens, mixers, flow wrappers, cooling tunnels, and decorating machinery. The ideal candidate will have 5-10 years of mechanical engineering experience within a food/beverage manufacturing environment, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team. This is a 6-month contract with potential for extension or conversion, and the client is looking for someone who can start ASAP. Flexibility and adaptability are key, as responsibilities may vary from equipment operations to quality-related tasks.
