Job Description Material Handler/Yard Jockey Reports to: Cold Zone Manager FLSA Status: Non-exempt The Erlen Group of companies exist to maximize long-term shareholder value by providing goods and services with honesty, integrity and fairness to our team, our communities, and our clients. Job Summary: This position is responsible for efficiently and safely moving trailers in and out of dock doors and to the designated areas coordinating with the warehouse team and performing material handling tasks as needed. This role requires attention to detail, strong communication skills, computer skills, and a commitment to maintaining a smooth flow of operations in the yard. This position requires forklift operations, as a material handler inside the warehouse when the full-time driver is on schedule. Efficiently load and unload trailers, weigh and receive products using various forklift equipment, rack by FEFO and item, pull orders, while following current Standard Operating Procedures. Duties/Responsibilities: • Ensure the efficient and safe positioning of trailersandproductsforloading and unloading operations., • Collaborate with warehouse and office teams to prioritize trailer movements based on operational needs., • Must perform Pre-Trip and Post-Trip inspections on yard equipment., • Inform proper parties of defective equipment and knowledge ofout-of-servicepolicies., • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of equipment,yardand warehouse., • Effectively communicate with warehouse leads and officepersonnelthe trailer numbers and dock doors associated with themviaradioandcomputerentries., • Report any issues, delays, or incidents promptly to supervisors and relevant personnel., • Collaborate with team members to ensure a seamless flow of operations., • Move, load, and unload food products, materials, and/or packages by hand, pallet jack, or forklift from trailers and railcarsas needed., • Follow all food safety processes and procedures., • Performs other related duties as assigned. Education and Experience: • Required:ValidDriver’sLicense, • Required: Possessa willingness to learn tooperatetractor-trailers on private property, • Preferred:1 yeartractor/trailer experience, • Preferred: CDL or willing to obtain Physical and/or Travel Requirements: • Comfortable working in various weather conditions, • Extended periods of standing, walking, and operating equipment, • Can perform the physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations., • Must be able to lift 50-75 pounds at a time.
