Job DescriptionDescription: Join McAlister Institute, a 48-year beacon in San Diego's Recovery Community. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Assistant Program Manager to join our Adult Detox team. This role plays a key part in supporting the daily operations of the detox facility leadership and ensuring clients receive high-quality, client-centered care. The Assistant Manager will be primarily responsible for overseeing Substance Use Disorder (SUD) treatment services, client education, and referral processes within the program. Benefits for YOU: • 13 paid annual holidays, including your birthday; 12 paid vacation days, paid sick leave, • Public Service Loan Forgiveness eligibility, • 403(b) Retirement Plan + up to 6% Employer Match, • Health Insurance available the first of the month following 30 days of employment (Sharp), • Support and implement the overall purpose, philosophy, values, and direction of McAlister Institute., • In manager’s absence, oversee all aspects of program operation and service delivery including staff supervision., • Check in daily with Program Manager on all program issues and concerns., • Assists staff in approving all client appointment requests and other client requests at direction of Program Manager., • Assists Program Manager on training staff and implementing new program changes, procedures, forms, etc., • Assists Program Manager with employee oversight and supervision, including recruitment, performance management, corrective action, timekeeping, and operational needs., • Upholds all McAlister Institute policies and procedures, protocols, handbooks, and manuals (e.g., fiscal manual, inventory procedures, employee handbook, operations manuals, as well as any other McAlister Institute policy and any applicable client handbooks)., • In coordination with management, communicates programmatic or employment related changes to staff effectively., • Maintain positive relationships and boundaries with staff, clients, outside agencies, etc., • Be responsive to agency-wide quality assurance measures to include data collection, peer review, training, and others as appropriate., • Assist with end of the month and staffing reports as needed., • Participate in program coverage and scheduling for the center., • Responsible for the supervision of clients and maintaining client schedule, structure, and rules., • Responsible for making presentations and facilitating educational groups., • Maintain up-to-date record-keeping, documentation, and client filing systems., • Provide prompt and accurate end-of-the month reporting., • Ability to meet the varied treatment and recovery needs of individuals in a multi-cultural environment with a strong understanding of evidence-based practices., • Ability to work effectively with a diverse population, including the impoverished, unhoused, and those suffering from chronic substance use and/or mental health challenges., • Must possess a Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) recognized State of California Alcohol and Drug certification with two years’ experience., • Five (5) or more years’ experience working with alcohol and drug related issues and addictions., • Supervisory experience and program leadership, preferred, • Bachelor's degree, preferred., • Maintains confidentiality; listens to others without interrupting; effectively regulates emotions, especially under stress; remains open to others' ideas and tries new things., • Exudes a calm and competent manner, able to converse with medical professionals, lay persons, as well as persons or families and defuse crisis or high intensity situations., • Skills include strong paperwork and computer skills in order to maintain up-to-date record keeping, documentation, and client filing systems., • Ability to maintain-up-to-date records, exceptional written and verbal communication; ability to work in a team; initiative taking; excellent time management skills; and organizational abilities., • Must comply with all agency and contract requirements related to trainings, public health, certifications, reporting, etc., • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English strongly preferred. Must be able to pass a drug test, background clearance, and provide a negative TB test., • Must be free of probation or parole for at least one year., • Must possess a valid and unrestricted California Driver's License, with a good driving record, free of any major infractions.
